Countless eyes were fixed on Brolin at that moment, hollow, cold, devoid of even a trace of emotion.
Brolin panicked completely.
"No... impossible..."
His lips trembled, and the Wand in his hand shook.
"I hold the core contracts of every Golem... I am their master..."
But the way the Golems looked at him was not how one looked at a master.
Brolin abruptly turned around and looked at the Alchemist, who was nearly shrinking into the corner. He roared in grief and rage, "Ilari, you betrayed me!"
Ilari stammered, "Well... well... how should I put this..."
"There is no need to blame our precious Alchemist," William said gently. "When you abandoned all your subordinates and ran away, you should have known... someone like you was destined never to earn anyone's loyalty again."
As he spoke, he lightly waved his hand.
In an instant, all the Golems began closing in on Brolin. Several of the closest ones swiftly positioned themselves between Sir William's group and Ilari.
"Impossible! Core contracts aren't so easily revoked! That's not what Abigail said!"
Brolin frantically searched for Abigail. He knew that the first and strongest twelve Golems would always obey Abigail's commands.
Because their contracts came from Wade Gray, even Ilari had no way to erase them completely.
But after looking around, he remembered that he had sent Abigail off to die long ago.
Clinging to a faint hope, Brolin pointed at the nearest Werewolf Golem and shouted sharply, "Stop! I order you to stop! Go back to your position!"
The Werewolf Golem showed no reaction and continued advancing step by step.
He turned to the Vampire Golem. "Kneel! Did you hear me? Kneel for me! I am your master!"
The Vampire revealed a smile devoid of warmth, its fangs glinting coldly beneath the lights.
The
