Background and Standing

Mr. Ming and followers drawn from more than a hundred Martial Way schools founded the Learning Society. Once dismissed by outsiders, it became one of Fragrant Sea’s foremost institutions for rising martial talent. Master Ye calls it the Enclave’s true martial center; Little Loudspeaker likewise describes it, rather than Ever Joy’s Halls, as the organization’s foundation 39 62.

The Society controls advanced instruction and scarce cultivation resources. Its school networks also matter: established styles have senior disciples able to guide and support newcomers, while students from smaller schools face competition with fewer allies 87 101.

Admission and Training

• Entry: The Crossing River Association is a route into the Society. Places are fiercely contested, although strong performances can earn additional allocations 57 115.
• Azure Hall: Every newcomer must spend at least a year here. Students are assigned among the Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter divisions; Spring is the strongest at the time Li Xiuwen enters 115 143.
• Tiger Hall: Advancement brings students into a more entrenched factional hierarchy. Its major factions extend their influence beyond the Society into Ever Joy and Fragrant Sea 188 199.
• Dragon Hall: Students who advance far enough can leave Tiger Hall and enter Ever Joy’s upper ranks 161.

Competition and Resources

• Challenge Arena: A regulated venue for disputes and competition. Losing a challenge can cost ten Tongbao, making newly admitted students carrying money attractive targets 141.
• Assessments and Azure Rankings: Monthly assessments measure cultivation and practical fighting ability. They also check for signs of harm from elixir use; the regular checks were instituted after the Thirteenth Young Master incident 148 149.
• Spring Hunt: An annual April expedition in which disciples hunt Heaven’s Will talents outside the Enclave for Tongbao and potentially rare medicine. Participants risk becoming targets themselves 144.
• Instruction and supplies: Members can seek teachers, advanced methods, elixirs, and equipment, but access depends on money, standing, and availability. Blood-Coagulating Elixirs remain scarce even within the Society 132 144 147.
• External competition: The Society sends disciples to events such as the Dragon-Raising-Head Dharma Assembly, while visiting fighters can challenge its students 157 178.

Factions

Azure Hall’s four major school-based factions are the Iron Wire, Tiger-Crane, White Ape, and Buddha Salute societies 133. Tiger Hall’s five leading factions, known as the Five Tiger Gates, are:

The smaller Four Seas Society, founded by Huang Sihai’s senior disciples, is affiliated with the Little Martial Saint Alliance 137 188.

Notable Events

• Li Xiuwen’s admission: After winning the Youth Division Martial Champion title, Li enters the Learning Society and defeats challengers on his first day 137 141 142.
• Spring Hunt losses: Fighting with Heaven’s Will kills several Society members. Tiger Granny subsequently orders Ever Joy’s Halls to care for deceased Azure Hall disciples’ families 180 181.
• Wider-world exchange: Mr. Ming arranges for two Qionglu Zhang Family talents to challenge Society disciples, exposing them to stronger traditions beyond Fragrant Sea 178 185.
• Dharma Assembly preparations: The Society selects teachers of at least Iron Bone strength to escort its young competitors and protect them from assassination 207.
