"Bai Ye! Wow, it really is Bai Ye! Where... where have you been all this time?!"
Swire even rubbed her eyes, unable to believe it. For a moment, she thought she was seeing things.
"Ahem, I just... went traveling and took care of a few things along the way." Bai Ye had not expected the little tiger's reaction to be so intense.
To be honest, she was really loud.
It took Swire quite a while to calm down.
"You have no idea how exhausted we've been since you left!"
Some people were like meteors, leaving an indelible mark on your life before disappearing.
Swire would never forget someone like that for the rest of her life.
And thanks to Bai Ye, Swire and the others had practically been working nonstop these past few years, without a moment to rest.
"But now, you must be satisfied, right? The entire Guard Department is under your command."
Bai Ye smiled at the little tiger before him. She might not have been perfect, but she truly was a good superintendent, loved by her subordinates.
Swire did not smile. She looked at the group photo on the cabinet beside her.
"But... those days will never come back."
In the photo, Swire, Chen Hui-chieh, and Hoshiguma stood together.
Behind them were Bai Ye, Texas, and Rhodes Island's Bad Guy.
They had taken that photo beside the ruins after repelling the Reunion Movement's assault on Lungmen.
Those had been difficult days, and the greatest crisis Miss Swire had faced since becoming a police officer.
But now, she missed that time more than anything, even if she had argued with that deadbeat dragon every day.
"Is Old Chen in Lungmen now?" Bai Ye asked with a smile as he looked at the three grimy figures in the photograph.
