Background
The Sarutobi were among the early clans to join Konoha. Under Third Hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen, they grew into a powerful clan whose members held key village positions. They also gained half of the Military Police Force's authority when the Uchiha were made to share it 17 28 29.
The division gave rise to rival Sarutobi and Uchiha police jurisdictions. Their conflict extended beyond policing: Hiruzen sent Sarutobi shinobi to ambush Uchiha Xuan Yu and Uchiha Xia, and Xuan Yu subsequently targeted Sarutobi members on missions 109 120 274.
