The next second, Han Fei flipped his hand and pulled out a smoke grenade, hurling it over.

The smoke grenade exploded the moment it hit the ground, billowing out a huge cloud of white smoke that enveloped the wounded.

"Doctor, what is this for?" someone asked in confusion.

"Hold on."

Han Fei replied casually, raised his hand, and pulled out the Hormone Gun. With a biu, he fired a hormone shot over.

The instant the hormone shot touched the white smoke, it dyed the entire cloud green, turning it into healing smoke.

FrostNova curiously reached out to touch it, but she did not feel the warmth the hormone shot had brought before. A hint of confusion immediately appeared on her lovely face.

"What is this?"

"Healing smoke. It can only repair physical injuries; it has no suppressive effect," Han Fei explained.

"So that's how it is."

The confusion on FrostNova's face immediately turned to regret. She still somewhat missed that hormone shot. Although it had lasted only a minute, it had given her the warmth she had long yearned for.

The next second, a green hormone shot struck FrostNova with perfect accuracy.

"Eh?!"

FrostNova was instantly startled. Realizing what had happened, she hurriedly looked at Han Fei. "Don't waste your injections like this. They're precious resources."

"There's no such thing as waste. Only whether it's worth it." Han Fei extended his right hand and said seriously, "In my eyes, you're more important than an injection."

Control

FrostNova stared blankly at Han Fei and said softly, "But I'm not injured. Isn't this still a waste?"

But Han Fei had no interest in debating that issue with her. He raised his right hand a little higher and said, "So, no handshake?"

Without waiting for FrostNova to answer, Han Fei added, "If you don't shake my hand, then it really will be wasted."

For the first time in her life, FrostNova felt as though this man had her completely in his grasp.

She knew this was wrong, that it was a waste of precious medical resources. Yet after Han Fei said that, she suddenly no longer wanted to dwell on whether it was wasteful or not.

FrostNova silently raised her left hand and placed it in Han Fei's large palm.

That warm sensation flowed from her palm once more, and a subtle change appeared in FrostNova's expression.

—She was no longer wearing a stern face. A faint trace of contentment could be seen in her eyes.

FrostNova lowered her gaze to Han Fei's right hand. His hand was much larger than hers, yet it was just the right size.

Just large enough to wrap around her hand.

"How does it feel?"

Han Fei's voice came from beside her. FrostNova glanced sideways at him and said softly, "Very warm."

After saying that, FrostNova stared directly at Han Fei's profile, all sorts of random thoughts suddenly filling her mind.

For a moment, FrostNova even wondered, He's treating me so well... does he want something from me?

But she quickly dismissed the thought herself.

What could he possibly want from me? This body of mine, with a temperature far below average and so frail it can barely endure?

FrostNova knew she was merely overthinking things, yet she found it difficult to stop herself from doing so.

After all, setting aside her identity as the Yeti Squad's big sister, she was still just a beautiful girl not yet twenty.

"Big Sis, we..."

A wounded member called out, but his voice abruptly stopped when he saw FrostNova's current appearance.

The injured Yeti Squad members all looked, as if by unspoken agreement, at the hands the two were holding.

Without betraying any emotion, FrostNova withdrew her hand. "How are you all? Feeling better?"

Someone replied, "Much better, Big Sis."

Someone else said to Han Fei, "Thank you, Doctor."

"You're welcome." Han Fei waved a hand. "It was nothing. Also, just call me Han Fei."

The man replied, "All right, Doctor Han Fei."

FrostNova tried her best not to be affected by the Yeti Squad's stares. Pretending that nothing had happened, she said, "If you're feeling better, then get moving. Go clean up the battlefield. They should have left quite a few things behind."

"Yes, Big Sis!"

The wounded immediately scattered, and the clearing that had been crowded moments ago was empty in the blink of an eye.

"Thank you."

FrostNova turned toward him and said solemnly, "Thank you for everything you've done for them."

"Why are you always being so formal with me?"

Han Fei reached out through the chill and patted FrostNova's head. "Do you not consider me a friend?"

"No, you will always be our friend," FrostNova said gently. "As for thanking you, that is simply basic courtesy."

"Don't be so formal next time. You're making it seem like we're complete strangers."

Han Fei withdrew his hand, then reminded her, "Still, healing smoke has its limits. Don't actually make them do anything too strenuous."

Just like Han Fei's hormone shots, healing smoke could only treat injuries that were not too severe. It could not heal serious injuries such as fractures with a single shot.

It was easy enough to understand. The recoverable cuts and bruises suffered by the Yeti Squad were equivalent to HP lost by a GTI super-soldier in the game. One shot was enough to restore them.

That was how Alina's frostbite had healed.

But for particularly severe injuries, such as fractures, even a GTI super-soldier would have to wrap their own bandages.

The Yeti Squad did not have the ability to heal fractures just by wrapping bandages. They would still need time to recover slowly.

"I know."

FrostNova gave Han Fei a reproachful look, her expression easy to read—Do you really think I'm so heartless?

"As long as you know."

As Han Fei spoke, he looked around and asked, "Come to think of it, where did Talulah go?"

"Some of the patrol officers escaped. She took people to pursue them," FrostNova answered.

"I see."

Han Fei nodded knowingly. "Then, since there's nothing else to do, I'll go scrape the ground for a while longer."

"Scrape the ground?"

FrostNova paused, not understanding what that meant.

"It means I'm going to loot those patrol officers a little more and see whether I can find any valuables," Han Fei explained.

Since Talulah had not returned yet, there was still plenty of time. There were so many patrol officer bags he had not searched and so many houses he had not entered. There was no reason for Han Fei not to scrape the ground clean.

He was here for a knife run, not to play some young master. If he did not loot this or search that, where would he earn Haf Coins?

"I'll go with you," FrostNova suggested. "It'll be faster that way."

"Sure."

Han Fei agreed without a second thought.

He was not worried that FrostNova would steal his loot. The Delta Force loot system was unique to him. Even if FrostNova searched with him, he did not worry that she could take away anything valuable.

After all, he could pull a keycard out of thin air, while FrostNova could not. She could only see items that had already been there.

"Then let's go," FrostNova said.

"Okay."

Han Fei answered and began scraping the ground clean with FrostNova.

But after checking the bags of several patrol officers, Han Fei's motivation was immediately cut in half.

There was no other reason. They were truly broke!

He searched several patrol officer bags in a row. Forget little blues—he barely even saw any little greens.

In several bags, the only things that could be considered green were the helmets and armor inside.

But green helmets and green armor were things not even knife-running rats would stuff into their backpacks.

They simply were not worth much. Putting them in a backpack was practically asking for negative profit because you had earned too much.

The only things in these patrol officers' bags that Han Fei could stomach were bullets.

They were all white ammo, but at least they counted as ammunition supplies.

Han Fei did not take much, only topping up two stacks so he would not run out of bullets in an emergency later.

This Tundra was not the Dam. At the Dam, Han Fei could complete a run with no gun at all, carrying only a knife. But in the Tundra, it was better to have at least some combat ability.

Halfway through the looting, Talulah returned with her people.

Talulah swept her gaze around, then walked straight toward Han Fei and FrostNova.

Seeing her approach, FrostNova stopped what she was doing and stood up. "You're back. It seems those deserters have all been dealt with."

"Not one left."

Talulah was brief and to the point. Then she asked, "Has the battlefield been cleaned up?"

"Not yet, hold on!"

Fluffy

Talulah and FrostNova both turned to look, only to see Han Fei squatting beside a patrol officer and rummaging nonstop.

Talulah said, "You haven't finished searching yet?"

"Almost. Another ten minutes or so should do it."

Han Fei stood up and stretched. His looting did not require him to do anything personally. Just like in the game, all he had to do was touch the target.

So he was not actually tired. Even so, he put on an act as though he were utterly exhausted.

Seeing this, FrostNova said, "Are you tired? Why don't you go rest? Leave the rest to me."

Han Fei shook his head and refused. "No, I can keep searching a little longer."

Seeing how insistent Han Fei was, FrostNova assumed he did not trust her. "It's fine. If I find anything valuable, I'll give it to you."

"That's not the reason." Han Fei pinched FrostNova's rabbit ear and chuckled. "Don't make me sound like some money-grubber."

That action made Talulah look at Han Fei an extra time, a little puzzled. Why does it feel like these two have suddenly become much closer?

FrostNova twitched her ears and dodged Han Fei's strange hand. She looked at him without saying anything, but her expression was easy to read—Aren't you?

FrostNova had accompanied Han Fei throughout the search just now. She had watched him loot every infected patrol officer lying on the ground. Even when a patrol officer had already been searched once by the Yetis, Han Fei would still search them again as though he could not rest easy, afraid of missing something.

And it was not just the patrol officers. He had not spared the wooden houses either. Every time they passed one, he had to go inside and inspect it carefully in case he missed anything valuable.

If that did not make him a money-grubber, what did?

The money-grubbing way Han Fei had behaved earlier was quite different from the generous doctor who had saved people before.

It left FrostNova somewhat unable to tell which one was the real him.

Talulah, standing nearby, asked, "Are you short on money?"

Han Fei was frank about it. "Yeah."

To put it bluntly, his current situation was worse than deleting his account and starting over!

When other people started a new account, their assets would not be zero. At the very least, they would have some beginner items provided by the system in their storage, and their Haf Coin balance would not be zero either.

Unlike him now—no Haf Coins, an utterly empty storage, and he even had to rebuild the Special Operations Center from scratch.

Upon hearing that, FrostNova immediately said, "I can compensate you."

Those medicines had clearly been expensive, yet Han Fei had used them on her and her companions without the slightest hesitation.

FrostNova was deeply grateful for that kindness and was willing to repay him with even more.

"There's no need for that," Han Fei refused. "We're friends. Friends helping each other—asking for compensation would make things far too distant."
