Since there was no food in his own room, Han Fei could only head out and see if there were any containers he could loot.
As a newcomer, Han Fei was not nervous in the slightest. He was new, after all. If someone caught him sneaking around, he could just use getting lost as an excuse.
And so, Han Fei began his search.
His first target was the room across from his.
Han Fei politely stepped forward and knocked on the door. Only after receiving no response did he push it open and walk inside.
The room opposite his had a similar layout to Han Fei's room, though the details differed due to its different owner.
The moment Han Fei entered, he spotted a coat rack by the door. A long coat and a felt hat hung from it.
Unfortunately, that set of clothes did not meet the requirements for looting.
Because he had inherited Delta Force's looting-and-extraction mechanics, Han Fei's vision was exactly like a player's perspective in the game. Aside from the displays for various skills and health bars, lootable containers were highlighted in his eyes.
At the moment, the clothes before him had no highlight marker.
"What a shame."
Han Fei smacked his lips and continued searching the room for lootable items.
Regrettably, even after circling the entire room, he only found a red medical kit in the bathroom that could be searched.
He reached inside, rummaged through it, and happily pulled out a bottle of medical alcohol.
"Not bad."
Though there had only been one little blue item in the entire room, Han Fei was still quite satisfied.
In Normal Dam, getting anything other than a little green was already enough to be happy about. Han Fei did not dare fantasize about pulling a little gold every time he looted.
—Even in Classified Space City, that was impossible.
A few little blue items in Normal Dam were pretty good!
Feeling satisfied, Han Fei headed straight back out. After closing the door behind him, he began looking for his next target.
Perhaps because everyone was downstairs playing cards, Han Fei did not encounter a single person even after searching the entire floor.
Not every room on this floor could be opened. Roughly one-third of the rooms were locked.
And among the remaining two-thirds, Han Fei even ran into the unfortunate situation of finding not a single container in an entire room.
Still, having something to loot was better than having nothing.
Just as he finished searching the floor and prepared to head downstairs to continue looting, he suddenly heard a flurry of hurried footsteps.
Then, a man in a black suit appeared in Han Fei's sight, panting heavily.
Before Han Fei could speak, the man gasped out, "Quick, come with me! Something happened!"
"What happened?"
Han Fei was somewhat puzzled, but he followed him downstairs anyway.
The man in black hurried down as he explained, "Brother John is dead!"
Han Fei froze. "Who?"
"The capo who brought you here earlier!" the man in black said.
"Huh?"
Han Fei was shocked.
That iron-fisted capo had left a pretty good impression on Han Fei. After all, he had been a generous benefactor who had handed him a little gold right away.
"Wasn't he perfectly fine when he left? How did he suddenly die?"
Hearing so abruptly that the man was dead, Han Fei actually felt a little reluctant to accept it.
Sigh. There would never again be such a generous good brother, someone who casually handed out little golds.
"He was probably ambushed on his way back," the man in black explained. "Lord Giuseppe is furious right now and is gathering everyone."
Han Fei followed the man in black back to the front of the main estate. Giuseppe stood at the entrance with a grim expression, while a dense crowd of Texas Family enforcers in black suits stood before him.
Han Fei moved closer and blended into the crowd.
After waiting for a while, Giuseppe spoke in a hostile tone. "I believe you all know by now that John, my most loyal iron-fisted capo, was ambushed just now and has left us forever.
"This was a deliberate assassination targeting the Family's upper ranks. Since when has the Texas Family been bullied like this in Columbia?!"
"So, for me, for John, I need you to kill every last one of those damned Siracusans."
Giuseppe unconsciously raised his voice and shouted, "Blood debts can only be repaid in blood!"
It was not hard to see that Old John had held considerable prestige within the Texas Family. The men in black were all filled with righteous indignation, shouting that they would avenge John.
Han Fei stood among the crowd. Though he did not shout as passionately as the others, his gaze had become noticeably more serious.
A little gold was not worth much, but it was still a favor.
For the sake of that little gold, Han Fei did not mind avenging his good brother.
Before long, one luxurious Family sedan after another drove in.
Han Fei got into one with two men in black suits and took a seat in the back.
Soon after, the convoy set off and slowly left the estate.
Inside the car, the man in black beside him tilted his head and studied Han Fei. "New here? Haven't seen you before."
The man in black in the front passenger seat explained, "He's a newcomer Brother John brought in today."
"Oh."
The man beside Han Fei nodded in understanding and reminded him, "Since you're new, don't run around. If anything happens later, stick close to us. We'll look after you."
"Sure."
Han Fei nodded and agreed.
Halfway there, the man in the passenger seat suddenly received a call. Han Fei had no idea what the person on the other end said, but the man's expression immediately changed. He looked grim as he said,
"Alright, I understand. We'll be there right away."
"What happened?"
The man in black in the back asked with concern.
The man in the passenger seat said solemnly, "The Young Lady has been attacked too. She's currently hiding in the branch office. We need to go support her immediately. We can't let anything happen to her."
The man in the back hurriedly said, "Then what are we waiting for? Hurry, get over there! We absolutely cannot let the Young Lady fall into those Siracusans' hands!"
Upon hearing their conversation, Han Fei frowned. "The Young Lady? You mean Cellinia?"
The man in black beside him sounded somewhat displeased. "You should address her as Miss Cellinia."
Han Fei did not want to argue over that. "Fine, fine, I'll keep that in mind. So, it's Miss Cellinia?"
"There is only one Young Lady in the Texas Family, and that is Young Lady Cellinia," the man in the passenger seat said.
Hearing that, Han Fei immediately perked up. "Then what are we waiting for? Hurry up!"
Though the people traveling with him did not understand why Han Fei had suddenly become so excited, their desire to support Cellinia matched his own.
For a time, the entire convoy changed direction and sped down Columbia's highways.
The driver was clearly anxious. Han Fei had no idea how many red lights he ran along the way. The car moved so fast that even Han Fei, who never got carsick, started feeling dizzy.
By the time he got out of the car, Han Fei had to hold onto the door to steady himself.
Seeing this, the man in the passenger seat casually asked, "You alright?"
"I'm fine."
Han Fei waved his hand and took a deep breath, finally managing to calm himself down.
He looked up and saw a six-story building ahead. There was no sign outside, and it looked rather unremarkable.
At that moment, fierce fighting sounds came from inside, occasionally accompanied by the sound of shattering glass.
"What's the situation now?" Han Fei casually asked.
"Those Siracusans have already broken into the branch office. The Young Lady is trapped on the top floor," the man in black in the passenger seat replied. "We have to rescue her immediately."
"Alright, top floor, got it. Wait for my good news."
With that, Han Fei removed the large shield from his back and began transforming.
Under the gazes of those nearby, Han Fei swiftly equipped a full set of heavy riot gear and raised the heavy full-body shield.
The two men in black who had come with Han Fei were dumbfounded. The one in the back could not help asking, "What is that equipment you're wearing?"
"Brought it myself. Cool, right?"
Han Fei casually replied, then raised his shield and said in a deep voice, "Just stay behind me. I'll take point!"
After saying that, Han Fei took a deep breath and ran toward the building.
Creak, creak...
After changing into the full set of heavy equipment, Han Fei's footsteps became absurdly loud. Every step made his gear clatter together with strange noises.
Perhaps they heard the commotion, because countless Siracusans appeared behind the building's windows. Armed with bows and crossbows, they began firing down at Han Fei and his group from above.
Han Fei had a shield, so he was naturally unafraid. He raised his great shield, and a rapid series of metallic clangs rang out. Yet not a single arrow could pierce his shield.
The other Texas Family enforcers were not so lucky. Someone immediately screamed as he was shot full of holes, collapsing to the ground in a spreading pool of blood without another sound.
Han Fei wanted to draw the enemy fire for them, but the Siracusans were not idiots. After witnessing the might of Han Fei's shield, they immediately redirected their attacks. They ignored Han Fei and focused on the other Texas Family enforcers.
The enforcers wanted to return fire, but as the saying went, shooting uphill was for idiots.
Facing the Siracusans firing down from above, the Texas Family enforcers' counterattacks were utterly feeble. They could not threaten the Siracusans at all.
Very soon, no one remained behind Han Fei. The surviving enforcers only huddled behind the cars, tentatively returning fire with hand crossbows.
"So I'm the only one left?"
Han Fei smacked his lips. He truly had not expected these Texas Family enforcers to be so useless.
But on second thought, the assassins Lady Sicilian had sent to carry out an extermination operation were surely elites.
With their own strength and the advantage of high ground, it was hardly surprising that they could firmly suppress the Texas Family enforcers.
"Forget it. I wasn't expecting these grunts to be of much use anyway." Han Fei took a deep breath. "Let me show you what a top-tier soldier looks like."
At that moment, Han Fei heard someone shout from behind him, "New guy, you have to save the Young Lady! At the very least, hold them off! Reinforcements will be here soon!"
"Leave it to me."
Han Fei shouted without turning around.
Then he strode up to the entrance.
The building's front doors were tightly locked. Han Fei tried to open them, only to discover that something had been piled up behind them. Even using all his strength, he could not budge the doors.
"You think this can stop me? Magnetic bomb, out!"
Han Fei directly pulled out a C4 charge and threw it at the doors. Then he raised his shield and stared at the bomb without changing expression.
Before long, a boom resounded. Along with flames and a shockwave, the doors were blown to dust.
The sturdy full-body riot shield blocked the impact for Han Fei. The scorching blast swept across his face, but he stared directly at the explosion without even blinking.
"That's all?"
Han Fei lifted his foot, stepped over the burning wreckage of the doors, and entered the building.
On the first floor, several Siracusans who had been thrown over by the blast lay on the ground, moaning in pain.
After thinking for a moment, Han Fei pulled out his Bizon and gave each of them a RIP round.
"Don't even think about reviving. Just die properly."
After killing them, Han Fei did not loot their bodies. He did not even spare the corpses a second glance, instead running straight up the stairs to the upper floors.
The elevator might have been faster, but who knew whether those Siracusans had done something to it?
The stairs were better. Safer.
On the stairway, the Siracusans who had received word had already set up defenses. Armed with swords and blades, they blocked Han Fei's only path forward.
"You think the few of you can stop me?"
