The gun in Han Fei's hand completely failed to meet the standards of an imitation gun. Its size and power were nothing like what an imitation gun should have.
Before Texas could make sense of it, she saw Han Fei put away the gun, pull out a round grenade, bite off the pin with his teeth, and throw it up through the large hole.
Boom!
The explosion rang out, and the room on the rooftop immediately filled with screams and wails.
Han Fei had no idea that his actions had filled the girl's heart with questions. He grabbed Texas by the wrist and said, "We need to go."
Texas temporarily suppressed her doubts and asked, "How?"
Before she had even finished speaking, an Intimidator smashed through the door. Immediately afterward, a massive crowd of Siracusan assassins flooded into the room.
Han Fei frowned at once. He had spotted Family casters hiding among the crowd, and there were more than just one or two of them.
This was a serious problem. Their Arts could pass straight through a riot shield and directly injure Han Fei behind it.
Worse still, Han Fei's C4 was still on cooldown. He had no way to blast another hole open.
For a moment, Han Fei and Texas were trapped in the room by the Siracusan assassins.
"You two are pretty good at running."
Lappland slowly stepped out from the crowd, one hand resting on the hilt of the saber at her waist.
She stared at Han Fei and Texas with an amused expression. "But where else can you run? I told you, you aren't getting away."
Texas looked apologetic as she said to Han Fei, "I dragged you into this."
"Not really."
Han Fei drew a deep breath and lowered his voice. "Do you trust me? I still have one more plan."
"Stop struggling."
Their whispered exchange displeased Lappland. She drew her long blade in one motion and said, "I gave you a chance. If you'd returned my things then, I could have let you go. But you didn't take it. Now, even if you kneel and beg for mercy, I'll still slice you into a thousand layers!"
Texas glanced at Lappland, then asked Han Fei, "What are you going to do?"
Han Fei shook his head. "Just answer: trust me or don't."
Lupo hearing was exceptionally sharp. He did not want the other side overhearing his plan.
Texas hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "I'll trust you this once."
In this situation, Texas could think of no other way out besides trusting the man before her.
Could she really surrender to these Siracusan assassins?
Texas was unwilling to do that. Her pride would not allow her to kneel before Lappland and beg for mercy in front of so many people.
"Excuse me."
Han Fei released Texas's wrist, then wrapped an arm around the girl's waist and pulled her into his arms.
Caught off guard, Texas instinctively tried to struggle.
But the moment she moved, her gaze met Han Fei's eyes beneath the visor.
Through the Closed Helmet's faceplate, Texas could clearly see the confidence in Han Fei's eyes, as though he was completely certain he could escape their current predicament.
That confidence infected Texas as well. She placed a hand on Han Fei's shoulder and softly said, "I'm counting on you."
Lappland was equally stunned. Seeing Han Fei's action, she immediately flew into a rage, glaring at him as though fire might burst from her eyes.
Han Fei reminded her quietly, "You can hide in my arms. It'll be safer that way."
Texas's blue-and-gold eyes flickered slightly. Her gaze lingered briefly on Han Fei's heavy riot gear—the metal surfaces marked by gunpowder smoke still held the lingering warmth of the explosion.
She pressed her lips together, her wolf ears twitching unconsciously, then gave an almost imperceptible nod.
"Okay."
Before the word had fully left her lips, the girl had already pressed herself against Han Fei's chest.
Her movements were clean and decisive, as if she had already calculated the best angle to hide at. Even the path of her hair brushing past the shield's inner lining precisely avoided the gaps in his field of vision.
The shadow of the riot shield fell over her, completely cutting off Texas's line of sight with Lappland.
Veyron's Moment of Charm
Han Fei's actions infuriated Lappland. She swung her long blade and shouted, "What are you all standing around for? Catch him!"
"Yes!"
The Siracusan assassins moved at her command, pouncing on Han Fei from all directions.
Even several Siracusan assassins wielding long blades leaped down through the large hole in the roof.
Surrounded by everyone, Han Fei merely curled his lips into a smile. "Catch me? Maybe in your next life!"
The next second, he abruptly activated his drone and launched the one on his arm.
Lappland had seen the destructive power of the drone's sonic attack before. She hurriedly swung her long blade, sending out a streak of black sword light that cut the drone in half.
In the instant Lappland was distracted by the drone, Han Fei had already wrapped an arm around Texas's waist and charged for the window.
His riot boots smashed heavily against the floor, and every step made the equipment on his tactical vest clatter sharply.
"Hold on!"
The moment he crashed into the glass, Han Fei pulled Texas tight against him. The heavy riot shield struck the tempered glass at a forty-five-degree angle, and spiderweb cracks spread across it in an instant.
Once the shield broke past its limit, the entire pane exploded. Countless diamond-shaped fragments refracted rainbow halos beneath the sunlight, pouring down like a shattered curtain of diamond rain.
"Damn it, is this guy insane?!"
Lappland was horrified. This was the fourth floor. It was not especially high, but she knew how heavy Han Fei's equipment was.
It was no exaggeration to say that Han Fei's gear probably weighed well over a hundred pounds. Otherwise, his every step would not have made such heavy, muffled sounds.
If he fell from the fourth floor in such heavy gear, even if he was fine, what about Texas?
Texas was panicking as well. The howling wind by her ears made the girl instinctively wrap her arms around Han Fei's neck.
As if doing so could draw even a trace of security from that solid heavy riot gear.
But in reality, it did not make Texas feel safe in the slightest.
That equipment was simply too heavy. Texas did not even dare imagine how fast they were falling.
At that moment, countless thoughts she had never considered before suddenly surfaced in Texas's mind. They were so chaotic that her heart became unsettled as well.
After all, Texas was still only a young girl.
Amid the roaring wind, Han Fei's voice suddenly reached Texas's ears.
"Stay down. Don't stick your head out, no matter what."
Texas instinctively tucked in her neck, nearly curling herself into a ball within Han Fei's arms.
The next second, she suddenly heard a burst of escaping gas.
Before Texas could understand what was happening, the sharp crack of shattering glass suddenly exploded beside her ears.
Sunlight passed through the glass shards swirling through the air, refracting into countless fine golden streaks of light. The sight was breathtakingly beautiful.
Texas suddenly raised her face and stared directly at Han Fei through his visor.
The Closed Helmet blocked her view as always, but Texas did not look away.
She could sense that at the instant the glass shattered, Han Fei's arm had moved. He had deliberately adjusted the angle so the shield would completely protect her body.
"What a strange person."
Cellinia muttered softly.
She did not understand how recklessness and attentiveness could coexist in the same person.
Hiss—
Another burst of escaping gas sounded, and Han Fei landed steadily in a room on the second floor while holding Texas.
He had chosen the second floor because the distance was just right.
It was not too close to the fourth floor, but not especially far either.
Too close, and the Siracusan assassins could easily catch up. Too far, and Veyron's kinetic assistance system might not fully reduce the damage.
The result proved that Han Fei had chosen correctly. The health bar in his vision had not changed at all; Veyron's passive had completely mitigated the damage.
Texas gently pushed Han Fei. "All right, you can let me go now."
"Not yet. We haven't gotten out completely." Han Fei shook his head. "We still need to jump once more, don't we?"
Texas opened her mouth, but ultimately said nothing, silently allowing Han Fei's actions.
Han Fei was a man of action. He held Texas by the waist, walked to the window, and said, "We'll be safe soon. Ready?"
"Mm."
Texas answered softly, allowing Han Fei to hold her as he jumped from the second floor.
The familiar sound of escaping gas soon followed. Han Fei landed firmly on the ground, then set Texas down.
"Miss!"
Some distance away, the Texas Family's enforcers became excited when they saw Cellinia.
Texas gave no response. She did not even acknowledge them.
Han Fei turned around, raised his shield, and faced the building. Without looking back, he said, "I'll cover you. Stay behind my shield. I'll get you over there."
"Okay. I'm counting on you."
Texas tucked herself closer behind Han Fei, her gaze passing over his shoulder and landing on the tall building.
Her eyesight was excellent, and she immediately spotted Lappland poking her head out of a window.
Only a short while ago, Texas had been locked in battle with Lappland. Yet now, she gave Lappland a faint smile.
"Goodbye."
Texas whispered, then turned her gaze toward Han Fei.
Her wolf ears were exceptionally sensitive, allowing her to accurately catch the muffled breathing coming from beneath his sealed helmet.
Texas pressed her lips together. She knew how sturdy and heavy Han Fei's equipment was. The journey had clearly exhausted him, but Han Fei had never complained of hardship or fatigue. His figure remained as steady as a mountain, shielding her from everything.
Texas was not a fiery, outgoing girl, but a cold personality did not mean she was heartless. She saw everything Han Fei had done, and she remembered it all.
Before long, under Han Fei's protection, Cellinia returned to the Texas Family convoy.
"Miss, are you all right?"
The moment they returned, Family members immediately gathered around Cellinia, anxiously examining her.
Han Fei looked at Cellinia, surrounded by everyone as though she were the moon among stars, and could not help feeling a little emotional.
They say Lupos are wolves, but why do you lot look so much like bootlickers?
Cellinia's expression remained blank as she said coolly, "I'm fine. You don't need to worry about me."
The Family enforcers were long accustomed to Cellinia's aloof personality. They eagerly opened the car door for her and said, "It's good that you're all right, Miss. Let's return to the old estate first. Lord Giuseppe is very worried about your safety. If you return early, it will put his mind at ease."
Cellinia got into the car expressionlessly. She did not want to respond in any way to Giuseppe's concern.
Seeing that the young miss had entered the car, the Family enforcer was about to close the door.
But then Cellinia suddenly spoke, interrupting him. "Wait."
"Miss, do you have another order?" the enforcer immediately asked eagerly.
But Cellinia's gaze did not linger on his face for even a second. It passed over the man trying to curry favor with her and fell directly on Han Fei. "Get in. You worked hard this time."
As she spoke, Cellinia shifted to the side, signaling Han Fei to sit beside her.

In the Car
Han Fei removed his heavy riot gear, sat beside Texas, and casually folded up the shield at his feet.
Then the car door closed, and the sedan slowly drove away.
"Thank you for earlier."
Texas tilted her head toward Han Fei. Even after removing the heavy riot gear, the D6 Closed Helmet was still firmly fastened over Han Fei's head.
