As Yuan Yan revealed his true form and connected with the Primordial Gourd Vine, he entered a state of enlightenment. Three thousand laws manifested and intertwined between heaven and earth, endless Dao rhythms permeated the air, mist rising and swirling as the canyon filled with an unfathomably profound aura.
Gradually, Yuan Yan's comprehension of the three thousand laws deepened. Through the laws he had already comprehended to perfection—Five Elements, Chaos, Destruction, Creation, Life and Death, and more—he also grasped their corresponding Great Daos.
He gradually opened the Dao of Reincarnation and the Dao of Worlds as well, using reincarnation and worlds respectively to expound and evolve his understanding of all things in existence. His Dao of Reincarnation and Dao of Worlds continued to evolve and improve.
Yuan Yan secluded himself within Mount Buzhou to cultivate, but the Primordial World was far from peaceful.
At the summit of Mount Sumeru stood the towering Demon Palace. The Twelfth-Rank World-Destroying Black Lotus floated at the center of the palace, and Rahu sat cross-legged upon its lotus platform. He wore black robes, his handsome features covered by a bone-chilling coldness. Whenever his eyes opened and closed, demonic qi surged, concealing murderous intent.
At his side, four radiant yet baleful swords silently floated. They were named Extermination, Slaughter, Entrapment, and Annihilation—the future renowned Four Swords of Slaying Immortals.
At this moment, demonic seals danced between Rahu's fingers. Endless demonic qi and the world's malevolent baleful energy continuously poured into the four swords. The blades hummed without cease as they merged with a formation diagram, and the Dao rhythm of slaughter swept across all of Mount Sumeru.
He was putting his full strength into refining the Slaying Immortals Sword Formation, intending to use the power of the great formation to sweep across the Primordial World and attain the Dao of the Hunyuan Daluo.
Demonic mist churned around him. Thirteen figures with strange forms and sinister auras stood bowed beneath the hall. They were the most elite of Rahu's subordinates—the Seven Emotions and Six Desires Thirteen Demon Envoys:
The Seven Emotion Demon Envoys of joy, anger, sorrow, fear, love, hatred, and desire; and the Six Desire Demon Envoys of form, sound, scent, taste, touch, and dharma. Every one of them excelled at bewitching hearts and demonizing living beings.
Rahu slowly opened his eyes. His demonic voice pierced through the clouds of demonic qi and resounded throughout the hall. "Thirteen Demon Envoys, heed my command!"
"Your subordinates respectfully obey the Demon Ancestor's decree!" The thirteen demon envoys knelt in unison, their voices sinister yet reverent.
"The time has come. Go separately to the territories of the three clans. Conceal your tracks, demonize their clansmen, magnify the seven emotions and six desires in their hearts, secretly create conflicts among the three clans, stir up their hatred, and ignite an all-out war between them."
"Yes!" The thirteen demon envoys did not dare object and hurriedly accepted the order.
The thirteen demon envoys departed under Rahu's command, their bodies transforming into thirteen streams of black mist that silently vanished into space and time. They infiltrated the territories of the Dragon Clan of the Four Seas, the Phoenix Clan of the Nine Heavens, and the Qilin Clan of the Great Earth, hiding in the shadows as they began carrying out their poisonous scheme.
First, a protector of a Dragon Clan prince was demonized. He bewitched the prince into leaving the East Sea and setting foot upon the lands of the Primordial World, where he encountered a phoenix maiden by chance.
The instant they met, the dragon prince saw the phoenix maiden's peerless beauty, and desire flared within him. He ordered her protector slain, then abducted and violated her until she died.
And at that very moment, the phoenix maiden's plea for help, which had previously been unable to get through no matter what, was sent out.
In an instant, a Great Luo of the Phoenix Clan crossed the void and arrived. Enraged, he turned the dragon prince and his protector into ashes with a single palm strike.
At that moment, a Dragon Clan Great Luo also arrived. Seeing the dragon prince dead, he too flew into a rage. The two fought fiercely, but their battle ended without a result.
However, upon learning that the phoenix maiden had been violated, several Phoenix Clan experts flew into a rage. They secretly entered the shores of the East Sea, destroyed several primordial spirit springs, and killed the Dragon Clan cultivators guarding them in retaliation.
The Dragon Clan also sent experts into the Southern Continent. They seized several phoenix spirit trees and slew the Phoenix Clan guards to avenge the dragon prince.
In the lands under Qilin Mountain on the Eastern Continent, numerous earth veins were shattered, and countless beast tribes were massacred. The lingering aura at the scene bore traces of a battle between the Dragon and Phoenix Clans.
As the thirteen demon envoys continued demonizing members of the three clans, secretly creating conflicts and inciting their hatred, the enmity between the three clans grew ever deeper, and their clashes became increasingly severe.
Their hatred and conflict gradually spread from the lower ranks to the middle ranks, then to the upper ranks. It also spread from the three clans to the myriad tribes of scaled creatures, birds, and beasts, drawing all living beings of the Primordial World into the turmoil.
Yet Ancestral Dragon, Primordial Phoenix, and Primordial Qilin had divided the Primordial World among themselves and become its overlords, so naturally, they were no ordinary figures.
Although the thirteen demon envoys were unusual, and Demon Ancestor Rahu secretly aided them by obscuring the heavenly secrets, preventing the three clan leaders from discovering who was plotting against them, the leaders still vaguely sensed that something was wrong.
Moreover, aside from Demon Ancestor Rahu dispatching the thirteen demon envoys to secretly sow discord and create conflict and slaughter, other primordial gods and demons in the Primordial World were also unwilling to remain idle. Some acted personally, while others sent subordinates to act in secret.
They did not possess Demon Ancestor Rahu's methods, nor were they as extraordinary as the thirteen demon envoys. Their actions naturally could not be flawless, and quite a few were exposed.
Furthermore, while each conflict created by the thirteen demon envoys seemed flawless at first glance, careful scrutiny still revealed inconsistencies.
Knowing that great supernatural beings were secretly sowing discord, and knowing that a war among the three clans would most likely end with all sides severely weakened, Ancestral Dragon, Primordial Phoenix, and Primordial Qilin were naturally not fools. They would not follow the schemes of those great supernatural beings and launch a full-scale decisive battle.
Instead, they suppressed the desire for a decisive battle within their clans while secretly consolidating their strength for war, leaving several paths of retreat, and following the clues to uncover those who had been sowing discord. They used this to stir up unity against a common enemy within their ranks and make examples of the guilty.
Before long, Azure Dragon grew disgusted with the arrogance and tyranny of many Dragon Clan members, who oppressed all living beings. He raised the matter during deliberations in the Dragon Palace, only to be mocked and suppressed by Ancestral Dragon. In fury, he led Black Tortoise and a portion of the true dragons out of the Dragon Clan.
A branch of the Vermilion Bird lineage became dissatisfied with Primordial Phoenix's rule and attempted to seize power. After failing, they were expelled from the Phoenix Clan.
The White Tiger Clan committed insubordination and fought fiercely within the Qilin Ancestral Land. After being taught a lesson by Primordial Qilin, they angrily severed ties with the Qilin Clan and defected.
Yet surprisingly, in the face of Azure Dragon, Vermilion Bird, and White Tiger betraying their clans, the Primordial Three Clans did not pursue them to the end. Instead, they simply let the matter drop.
Moreover, batches of exceptionally gifted newborns and younger members of the Primordial Three Clans, along with Great Luo Golden Immortals whose karmic burden was light or who even possessed merit, vanished without a trace.
At the same time, the Primordial Three Clans began taking action against the beings secretly sowing discord between them. A bloody storm swept through the Primordial World.
Anyone discovered—whether remnants of tribes destroyed by the three clans or great supernatural beings dissatisfied with the current state of affairs—was exterminated.
Thus, the Primordial World entered its darkest era! The myriad tribes either submitted to the three clans or were annihilated. Of the primordial gods and demons who had survived the Calamity of Ferocious Beasts, fewer than one in a hundred remained, apart from those who had joined the three clans.
Only a few great supernatural beings, such as Hongjun, Rahu, Yang Mei, Yin-Yang, Qiankun, and others, escaped disaster.
However, as the three clans purged the Primordial World, their circumstances did not improve. Instead, they continued to worsen.
This further stirred up the baleful qi of the calamity. Calamity qi clouded their minds, and with the hatred accumulated by the three clans, conflicts continued and escalated even without anyone provoking them—let alone with someone stirring the pot.
Furthermore, the primordial gods and demons who had survived the Calamity of Ferocious Beasts all possessed luck and merit. Slaughtering primordial gods and demons and massacring countless tribes only deepened their karmic burden.
At this time, if a great supernatural being could see through the luck of the three clans, they would discover an abnormality within the manifestations of their incomparably flourishing destiny.
Dense black-red, blood-soaked baleful karma, so thick it could not be dissolved, had contaminated nearly eighty to ninety percent of those manifestations of destiny—and it continued to spread.
