Why Every Chapter Has End-of-Chapter Thanks—You Can Skip Them

Stay true to my heart, stay true to my feelings. There's no need to thank people at the end of every chapter.

Probably very few authors do this, so let me explain.

First, recommendation votes aren't unlimited. If someone gives their limited recommendation votes to a newcomer, it's only proper to thank them.

Second, I saw on Qidian's data that someone had three or four thousand recommendations at fifty thousand words, nearly half as many as top-tier authors. At first, I thought they had been bought, but after checking other people's book pages and comments, I found out they were real. It was just that they had handed out a huge number of recommendation-vote red packets. Directionless Fungus is very poor—I won't go into just how poor, since that might seem like I'm playing the pity card. Since I'm poor, I have no way to send red packets to give back to those who support me, so thanking them at the end of a chapter is only proper.

Will the end-of-chapter thanks continue forever? Probably not. I believe my hard work and sincerity will bring in more and more people willing to cast recommendation votes. By then, there won't be enough room at the end of the chapter, and my time and energy won't allow it either. But... that's for later. If I can still do it now, then I'll do it. When I can't anymore, then... I'll thank as many as I can. That's all.

I know there are probably two kinds of people who cast recommendation votes. One kind genuinely likes Directionless Fungus's book; the other votes because they want to support Directionless Fungus. Some give one vote at a time, while others give more than ten. To me, all of it is precious support.

After writing tens of thousands of words, I still like this sentence best: for those walking in darkness, even the faintest light is exceedingly precious.

By the way, I'll try my best to reply to most comments and to this chapter as well. Why? Because Directionless Fungus is someone with mild social anxiety, and replying to comments makes me happy. That's it—there's no lofty reason behind it.
