These Sovereign people had learned that the Guardians of the Galaxy had slain the monster and could not resist coming to see for themselves. Yet how could their pride possibly allow them to admit that someone had accomplished what they could not? Thus, arrogance and rudeness became the shell they used to display themselves.
Of all of them, Rocket Raccoon hated this sort of gawking the most. He was a product of "genetic engineering," originally a pet of the patients in an asylum called "Halfworld." After the aliens abandoned the asylum, one day—the star exploded, and radiation awakened the robots' self-awareness. Before long, however, the robots grew tired of working as well. They used genetic engineering to modify the animals in the institution and had those animals oversee the patients instead.
So before becoming a master thief, bounty hunter, and superhero, Rocket Raccoon had another profession: psychiatric hospital attendant.
Rocket Raccoon was a bioengineered animal heavily modified through genetics and machinery, the only and last member of his species.
