"Alright, this is the place." Texas checked the surroundings and waved to Exusiai behind her.
"Coming. Is it fine if I put it here?" Exusiai replied, placing the small box she had been carrying on her back where Texas indicated.
"According to the mission requirements, yes." Texas checked the assignment and answered with certainty.
"Alright, we can leave now. After making such a big commotion, the Lungmen Guard Department will definitely conduct a thorough search of this area." Texas turned and headed in another direction.
"Your mission... is pretty interesting. Heh heh heh."
"Right? Right?! Want to join us? Then we'll be coworkers!" After witnessing Zhuang Xiaolin's abilities, Exusiai felt she could recruit him into Penguin Logistics.
It was not just because she got along well with Zhuang Xiaolin, but also because of his terrifying marksmanship and the strange gun in his hand.
"Heh..., well, maybe next time. I might need your help someday." For some reason, the Sankta with wine-red hair stirred something within him. Zhuang Xiaolin chuckled and politely declined her offer.
"Ah..., alright. But Penguin Logistics' doors will always be open to you. If you run into any trouble, you can come find me." Exusiai sounded somewhat disappointed at Zhuang Xiaolin's refusal, but she soon returned to her energetic self.
"Mm, I'll remember that." Zhuang Xiaolin nodded, casually turning his head aside as his eyes fixed on the shadows concealed nearby.
Such faint killing intent. Even the Eye of Death had nearly failed to detect that trace of hostility. Whoever it was had hidden it too well.
Honestly, if the Eye of Death had not leveled up again after that slaughter just now, Zhuang Xiaolin might not have noticed it even now.
He could barely sense the black-clad agents Wei Yenwu had sent to watch him. Perhaps they had deliberately revealed their presence to him. But Zhuang Xiaolin knew those people would not pose a threat to him for the time being.
Yet this hidden gaze carried killing intent, and it was concealed exceptionally well. Such an existence might pose a threat to him someday.
But wasn't that rather interesting too?
A challenge made things more interesting.
As Exusiai turned to catch up with Texas, Zhuang Xiaolin licked the corner of his mouth, a predatory gleam appearing in his eyes.
Who was the hunter and who was the prey remained to be seen.
"Can I meet the boss you mentioned?" Zhuang Xiaolin followed after them.
"Of course. Come with us." Exusiai said enthusiastically, "Oh, I forgot to tell you, our boss has a rather strange personality."
"That's fine. I like dealing with strange people."
Texas walked ahead in silence. She reached into her pocket for a cigarette to ease her boredom, but the moment she recalled what had happened in Siracusa, the urge vanished. She returned to her gloomy silence.
She wanted to make a clean break with her past.
Before long, the three of them arrived on foot near Lungmen's city center. There was an office building there, and Penguin Logistics had one of its bases inside.
As a highly conspicuous logistics company, Penguin Logistics had earned such a great reputation in Lungmen for good reason.
But if that meant their home base was constantly being ambushed, it would hardly be worth it.
Thus, Penguin Logistics essentially had no headquarters. Instead, it had scattered bases throughout Lungmen. They usually accepted commissions online, while only acquaintances made requests in person. This also protected some of Penguin Logistics' bases to a certain extent.
"Boss is here today to handle something. We can see him at this base." Exusiai seemed accustomed to using that title. Zhuang Xiaolin got the impression of a cheerful Japanese-style girl from her.
"Boss! Someone wants to see you!" The moment Exusiai entered the floor where their office was located, she raised her voice and shouted.
"Ah! What are you making such a racket about now?!" A door in what looked like an office quietly opened a crack, and a male voice came from within.
Zhuang Xiaolin looked over curiously, wanting to see who the hidden boss of Penguin Logistics was—the company that controlled the best logistics service in all of Lungmen.
The door was pushed open. Yellow feet were the first thing to enter Zhuang Xiaolin's sight, followed by small legs covered in black feathers, then a belly covered in white fluff.
And above it all was a pitch-black penguin head, wearing a pair of hip-hop-style sunglasses and the thick gold chain that seemed standard for North American rappers.
"Huh?" Zhuang Xiaolin was dumbfounded. He had not been this stunned even when he saw those otherworldly people in the slums with ears growing from their heads and tails behind them. But this time, he was truly at a loss, because this penguin was far beyond anything he had imagined.
He had heard that people in his previous world were using animal experiments to gradually raise animals' intelligence, then connecting AI programs to their brains so they could speak and converse with humans. But when he actually saw a penguin open its beak and speak in a somewhat deep male voice, even Zhuang Xiaolin, who always seemed unflappable, froze where he stood.
"There, that's our boss. His nickname is Emperor, and he's a hip-hop singer." Exusiai pointed at the penguin and introduced him to Zhuang Xiaolin.
"Wait, what? Penguin Logistics' boss is actually a penguin?"
"That's right, and he's a hip-hop singer too."
Seeing his employee and an outsider of unknown origin discussing him—and apparently not saying anything flattering—Emperor's pitch-black face immediately took on a very human expression of anger.
"Exu-siai! This month's bonus is gone!"
"Hey, hey, hey! Boss, it's not what you think! Listen to my excuse!"
Ignoring Exusiai's babbling, Emperor faced the man in the black trench coat and cowboy hat before him, unable to stop himself from frowning.
This man was not simple. Faintly, Emperor could sense an aura of death from him.
Emperor had seen much of the world, yet he had never encountered anything like this. The man before him piqued his interest.
Little did he know that, as Emperor thought this, Zhuang Xiaolin had already worked out a plan to "butcher a penguin."
