Chiba spread the fingers of his right hand toward the six Amegakure ninja, emerald-green light gathering in his palm.
The leading Amegakure ninja finally came to his senses, his voice turning shrill behind his breathing mask.
"Retreat! Split up and retreat! He's an examiner, he can't—"
He never finished.
Chiba pressed his right hand downward, as though pushing an invisible switch.
"Wood Release: Tree Dragon Spiral Destruction."
The ground trembled. Mud at the bottom of the swamp churned and bubbled as if stirred by some colossal beast. Three enormous wooden dragons burst from the earth beneath the six Amegakure ninja at once, their bodies as thick as the trunks of century-old trees, their surfaces covered in sharp wooden thorns and still-growing vines. The three wooden dragons twisted together in spiraling paths.
The six Amegakure ninja did not even have time to take the first step of their dispersal.
The wooden dragons sealed off every route of escape. Branches and vines coiled around them like living things, lifting all six bodies from the ground and binding them tightly. They could not move even a finger, let alone form hand seals and cast jutsu.
Less than three seconds had passed from Chiba's attack to the six men being subdued.
Temari leaned against a tree, staring at the scene with her mouth hanging open.
The six-man squad she had failed to repel even after using all her chakra could not last even a single exchange before Chiba.
The wooden dragons spun the six bodies through the air twice. Branches searched two scrolls and several weapons from them, then tossed everything at Chiba's feet.
Chiba kicked the scrolls at his feet toward Temari.
"The scrolls are yours. Consider them part of the payment for saving your life."
Temari did not pick up the scrolls.
