Chiba is a surviving branch-family member of the nearly extinct Senju Clan. After concluding that Konoha’s leadership had been steadily consuming the clan’s inheritance, he rejected a mission order, killed two Root shinobi assigned to watch him, burned his home, and left the village. He pawned the deed to the Senju ancestral residence for fifty million ryō before traveling to Tanzaku Street. 1

The activation of the Beauty Record System redirected his plans toward Tsunade, whose debt offered him an opening to secure her support.
