Cold moonlight streamed through the window lattice, refracting a ghastly pale glow in the puddle on the floor.
The air in the bedroom was so oppressive it was hard to breathe. Only Sosuke's heavy, bellows-like gasps echoed through the room. He lay flat on the tatami, the left half of his body undergoing a terrifying mutation.
It was not ordinary skin hardening, but an incomparably brutal assimilation. Dark brown bark patterns frantically crept up his neck, while sharp wooden thorns mercilessly pierced through his pure white undershirt. No bright red blood flowed from the wounds. Instead, thick green sap seeped out, carrying a strong, pungent scent of vegetation.
"Sosuke! Hold on! Look at me!"
Tsunade knelt in the pool of water, utterly heedless of the icy dampness soaking through her nightgown. Her hands, usually as steady as stone, were trembling uncontrollably. Dazzling green medical chakra bloomed from her palms as she desperately poured it into Sosuke's vital channels.
Yet the top-tier medical chakra, enough to pull a dying person back from death's door, was mercilessly devoured the instant it touched Sosuke's skin by that violent divinity of Wood Release. Not only did it fail to ease the mutation, it instead became a catalyst, making the bark grow even more wildly.
Within only a few breaths, the traces of woodification had spread to Sosuke's left cheek, carving his once handsome, gentle face into something grotesque and terrifying.
"How can it be useless... Why is it useless!"
Tsunade stared at her empty palms as despair flooded her eyes like a breached dam. Before the oldest bloodline backlash of the Senju Clan, the medical skills she had always taken such pride in seemed so pale and powerless.
"It's useless... Sis..."
Sosuke's voice was hoarse, like something grinding against rough sandpaper. With difficulty, he raised his right hand, which had not yet fully turned to wood. Rather than seeking Tsunade's protection, he resolutely pushed her arm away.
That tiny act of resistance made Tsunade's heart clench sharply.
"Don't waste your strength..." Sosuke forced out a weak smile uglier than a sob. His one remaining eye held the bleak sorrow of someone who had seen through life and death. "This isn't some gift from the First Hokage... It's a curse... A monster that devours its host..."
"Shut up! I won't let you say that!" Tsunade lunged forward and pressed both hands tightly onto Sosuke's shoulders. Her eyes were red, and her voice carried an unmistakable sob. "You're the last man of the Senju Clan! I will never let you die in front of me! Never!"
Overwhelming grief and helplessness tore at Tsunade's nerves. Nawaki's face, blown beyond recognition by explosive tags, flashed uncontrollably through her mind. Then she saw Kato Dan's body gradually growing cold in her arms.
Everyone she had fought with all her strength to keep alive had ultimately become nothing more than cold names carved onto the Memorial Stone.
And now, was she going to fail to protect even this last remaining branch of the clan?
Just as Tsunade's mind was on the verge of collapse, Sosuke's fingers curled slightly and gently hooked the hem of her nightgown.
"Sis... I'm so cold..."
Sosuke's breathing became extremely faint, and his pupils began to lose focus. Using the last of his strength, he looked straight into Tsunade's tear-filled eyes, his voice carrying a heartbreaking plea.
"If... I really become a tree... please... kill me..."
"I don't want... to become a mindless monster... and hurt Hidden Leaf... hurt you..."
Those words became the final straw that broke the camel's back.
Kill Sosuke?
End the last bloodline of the Senju Clan with her own hands?
Tsunade froze completely as her mind exploded. She bit her lower lip hard until she tasted the sweet metallic tang of blood.
No! Absolutely not!
If it was to preserve the Senju Clan's future, if it was to save this foolish little brother who thought only of her, then what did those laughable worldly ethics and so-called dignity as an elder sister matter!
The absurd solution from her medical deductions—the only solution—once more surfaced uncontrollably in her mind.
The convergence of yin and yang.
Use the purest and most immense Yin Release chakra, through the deepest physical intimacy, to forcibly neutralize and guide away that rampaging Yang Release divinity.
In Hidden Leaf, there was no other woman besides Tsunade of the Senju Clan who possessed such immense chakra and could withstand the impact of that divinity.
"You won't become a monster."
Tsunade took a deep breath, her chest heaving violently. When she opened her eyes again, all panic and despair had vanished from them, replaced by madness and resolve that cast aside every restraint.
"Your sister... is going to save you."
The instant those words fell, Tsunade released Sosuke's shoulders.
She slowly straightened and knelt beside Sosuke. Those fists that had once smashed countless powerful enemies now trembled almost imperceptibly as they reached for the ties of her nightgown.
The faint rustle of fabric sounded exceptionally clear in the dark bedroom.
Sosuke half-closed his intact eye and silently watched everything unfold. Beneath the disguise of unbearable pain, a dark glimmer of absolute rationality lay hidden deep in his eyes.
He knew that once this line of defense was torn apart, the lofty princess of Hidden Leaf, the pride of the Senju Clan, would completely become something in the palm of his hand.
Her clothes slipped down and gathered around her waist.
Moonlight poured without reservation over that flawless body, perfect as white jade. Tsunade closed her eyes, and two streams of tears slid down her cheeks, dripping onto the tatami.
Without the slightest hesitation, she lowered herself and pressed her burning, life-filled body without reservation against Sosuke's cold, rough, half-wooden body.
The instant they touched, an indescribable shudder swept through them both.
"Mm..."
Tsunade let out a suppressed groan. Wooden thorns pierced her delicate skin, but instead of retreating, she spread her arms and clung tightly to Sosuke's back, drawing them together until no space remained between them.
Incomparably pure Yin Release chakra surged through their tightly pressed skin and wildly poured into Sosuke's body like a river bursting through its banks.
This was an extremely dangerous contest.
Two immense forces, utterly different yet born from the same origin, collided violently within Sosuke's meridians.
Sosuke's eyes flew wide open, and his body tightened beyond his control. The violent divinity that had tortured him to the brink of death, upon encountering Tsunade's Yin Release chakra, was like a starving beast finally finding a sweet spring. It began to entwine and merge with it madly.
The dark brown bark stopped spreading.
The sharp wooden thorns softened and withered at a visible rate, eventually turning into specks of green light that melted back into Sosuke's blood.
Feeling Sosuke's temperature rise again, Tsunade's tightly held heart finally eased halfway. She opened her tear-bright eyes and looked at the face so close before her.
Their breaths intertwined, and the temperature in the room rose sharply.
What had initially been an act to save him gradually changed in nature under the catalysis of divine chakra. The merged power was no longer violently destructive. It became an exceedingly primal, exceedingly domineering instinct that relentlessly eroded both their reason.
The cold green gleam in Sosuke's eyes vanished completely, replaced by undisguised aggression.
His left hand, now restored to its fair complexion, suddenly rose and seized the back of Tsunade's head, roughly pulling her breathtaking face down toward his.
"Sosuke... You..."
Before Tsunade could finish, her words were completely sealed away by an overwhelmingly domineering kiss.
This was not a younger brother's attachment to his sister. This was a male at the peak of his strength, directly conquering and claiming his prey.
Tsunade's mind went blank in an instant. She instinctively tried to struggle, but the suppression rooted deep within her bloodline, combined with the weakness from having just poured out so much chakra, left her utterly unable to resist.
More terrifying still, somewhere deep within her body, she felt a response to that domineering demand—a response that frightened even herself.
The night deepened, and the cold wind outside howled across the ruins of the Senju Clan Grounds.
Within this dark bedroom, however, a transformation concerning the clan's revival and the breaking of every ethical taboo had only just begun.
At the exact instant the two forces fully converged and yin and yang formed a perfect cycle.
Deep within Sosuke's mind, the long-silent system panel suddenly erupted with an incomparably brilliant golden light. A string of cold yet wondrous mechanical prompts exploded one after another like a raging storm.
