Background / History

Tsunade is Hashirama Senju's granddaughter, Tobirama Senju's grandniece, and the last direct descendant of the Senju Clan. As a child, she wanted to surpass Hashirama as a medical ninja; Hashirama recorded her early attempts to treat her own scrapes in the Senju Legacy notebook. 122 125

The deaths of her younger brother Nawaki and Dan Katō left lasting trauma. She later developed hemophobia, abandoned Konoha, and spent years traveling, gambling, drinking, and repeatedly accumulating debt. 122 126
