Taillow Flock's Sucker Punch

As Gary and Rosa were enjoying their delicious lunch, Gary's Larvitar suddenly let out an angry cry, immediately drawing the attention of both of them.

The two promptly put down their bowls and chopsticks and looked toward Larvitar.

Beside Larvitar's food bowl, there was now a small, dark-blue figure. It was rapidly devouring what had originally been Larvitar's lunch.

No wonder Larvitar had cried out in grief and anger just now.

"That Pokémon is..." After realizing that the figure stealing Larvitar's food was a Pokémon, Rosa immediately took out her Pokédex and began checking it.

"So it's a Taillow!"

After hearing the Pokédex's description, Rosa gained a basic understanding of Taillow.

"I remember Taillow do appear in Petalburg Woods," Gary said, recalling that a flock of Taillow lived in Petalburg Woods in the original story.

"Still, it looks like Taillow has already eaten all of Larvitar's lunch."

Just as Gary finished speaking, Rosa beside him pointed it out.

Following Rosa's reminder, Gary looked toward Larvitar and found that its food bowl was indeed already empty.

After finishing Larvitar's food, Taillow immediately flew up to a large tree nearby.

Having filled its belly, Taillow rubbed its stomach, let out an involuntary burp, and wore a thoroughly satisfied expression.

But those actions were undoubtedly a blatant provocation toward Larvitar.

Larvitar had never had the best temper to begin with, and after being provoked like that, it was instantly furious.

Ignoring everything else, the provoked Larvitar decisively fired a Shadow Ball, striking the unguarded Taillow on the branch.

The hit Taillow immediately fell to the ground, several wounds appearing on its body.

Despite being injured, Taillow was not Unable to Battle. Instead, it flew back up and glared angrily at Gary's Larvitar.

Larvitar's anger had yet to subside, while Taillow now glared back at it just as fiercely, prompting Larvitar to launch another attack.

This time, Taillow noticed the incoming attack. It decisively flapped its wings and dodged, then glared at Larvitar while crying out loudly, yet it made no move to counterattack.

"What is Taillow doing?" Rosa could not understand why Taillow was clearly furious and had even let out an angry cry, yet refused to make a move.

"Oh no, that cry is calling for its companions!" Gary suddenly remembered something and shouted to Rosa.

Sure enough, as soon as Gary finished speaking, cries identical to Taillow's rose and fell throughout the forest, as if answering the first Taillow's call.

Soon, dark-blue figures shot out from the woods like Sharp Arrows and gathered around Taillow.

Gary and Rosa did not need to look closely to know that these dark-blue figures were all companions of the earlier Taillow.

Within minutes, dozens of Taillow had appeared in the air before them.

After the first Taillow explained things with several cries, the flock learned roughly what had happened. They all turned and fixed their gazes on Gary, Rosa, and their Pokémon below.

"We didn't mean any harm. One of your members only stole our food first."

Stared down by so many Taillow, Gary felt a chill run down his back and hurriedly tried to explain.

However, the Taillow ignored Gary's explanation completely and continued staring at them with wary, vicious eyes.

"Are they going to attack together?" Seeing the situation, Rosa moved closer to Gary and asked in a low voice.

Although Rosa was not afraid given her strength, facing such an overwhelming flock of Taillow still made her uneasy.

"Don't worry. I'm here." After comforting Rosa, Gary continued watching the Taillow vigilantly.

With a cry from the Taillow leader, the flock seemed to receive an order. They transformed into Sharp Arrows and charged toward Gary's group.

What a pain! Gary complained inwardly before beginning to command his Pokémon.

"Blastoise, use Hydro Pump!"

Upon receiving the order, Gary's Blastoise immediately aimed its cannons at the incoming Taillow. Powerful streams of water knocked the leading Taillow from the air.

"I'll help too." Seeing Gary make his move, Rosa stepped forward and began commanding her own Pokémon.

"Serperior, use Leaf Storm!"

The moment Rosa finished speaking, countless leaves glowing with a faint green light formed into a storm under Serperior's control and swept toward the incoming flock of Taillow.

Under the combined assault of Gary's Blastoise and Rosa's Serperior, the Taillow that had come seeking Payback were defeated one after another. In the end, they fell like raindrops to the ground, Unable to Battle.

After quite a long time, the Taillow finally regained consciousness and struggled into the air.

Gary had originally thought they would attack again, but unexpectedly, after glancing at Gary's group, they scattered and fled.

Before long, they had all disappeared.

"Did they run away?" Rosa asked curiously as she watched the departing flock.

"They may have gone to call for reinforcements. Taillow aren't the type to give up easily," Gary said after thinking it over.

"That seems very likely." Rosa agreed with his assessment.

"Then are we waiting here for them to come back for Payback?"

"No." Gary shook his head and continued, "To avoid causing more trouble, we should leave this area before they return."

"Okay."

After Rosa agreed, Gary's group did not linger in the area. They quickly packed their things, swiftly left the spot, and continued on their way through Petalburg Woods.

After Gary's group had been gone for quite some time, the Taillow flock that had left earlier returned to the area. This time, however, their numbers were even greater than before.

Unfortunately for them, Gary had already left, and the Taillow could not find any trace of him.

Seeing this, the Taillow flock could only let out angry cries. There was nothing else they could do.

If Gary had seen this, he would probably have exclaimed, "Good thing we left early."
