Catching Shiny Metagross

"Then, Arcanine, I choose you!"

Noticing Shiny Metagross assume a battle stance, Gary immediately took out a Poké Ball and threw it.

"Arwooo!"

With a flash of white light, the veteran of Gary's team, Arcanine, appeared opposite Shiny Metagross and let out an imposing roar.

Metagross possessed both Steel-type and Psychic-type attributes. Considering type advantages as well as the gap in strength, Arcanine was the most suitable choice among Gary's current team.

"Metagross, let's begin!"

The moment Gary finished speaking, Shiny Metagross vanished from where it stood.

The next second, it abruptly appeared before Arcanine and unleashed Meteor Mash, swinging its fist at Gary's Arcanine.

Gary had anticipated this and calmly directed Arcanine.

"Arcanine, Double Team!"

As soon as Gary gave the command, Arcanine merely swayed its body slightly before disappearing from its spot, evading Shiny Metagross's attack.

The next second, the Arcanine that had dodged appeared behind Shiny Metagross, accompanied by several Double Team copies.

"Now then, Flamethrower!"

After hearing the command, Arcanine let out a roar and began gathering scorching Fire-type energy, turning it into a surging pillar of flame that rushed toward Shiny Metagross.

Because of Double Team, Shiny Metagross faced several Flamethrowers at once and could not tell where the real attack was coming from.

Yet even in such a perilous situation, Shiny Metagross did not lose heart. Instead, it used Agility again, instantly leaving its position at incredible speed and avoiding the assault.

Just as Shiny Metagross came to a stop once more, Gary's next command followed.

"Flame Charge, then Extreme Speed!"

Scarlet flames immediately ignited around Arcanine's body. After locking onto Shiny Metagross's position, it unleashed Extreme Speed as well, transforming into several streaks of red lightning that charged at Shiny Metagross in the distance.

Though Shiny Metagross had just stopped and spotted the incoming Arcanine in time, even attempting to dodge, they were all merely Double Team copies.

Arcanine's True Body seized the opportunity and struck the unprepared Shiny Metagross, slamming directly into it.

The powerful impact instantly forced Shiny Metagross back several meters, sending it crashing into a stone pillar before it finally stopped.

Likewise, the Fire-type damage carried by Flame Charge inflicted burns on it.

However, Shiny Metagross possessed formidable strength. Enduring the pain, it rose to its feet again and, due to the earlier attack, glared fiercely at Gary's Arcanine.

Arcanine also saw Shiny Metagross's glare and returned it with an equally fierce look.

"Next, Fire Spin!"

Naturally, Gary would not let this opportunity slip away against the injured Shiny Metagross. He immediately seized the moment and shouted to Arcanine.

After taking a deep breath, Arcanine spewed a Fire Spin from its mouth, sending it surging toward Shiny Metagross.

Facing a Fire-type attack, Shiny Metagross naturally would not confront it head-on. Instead, it used Protect, blocking Arcanine's attack with a thin, pale green barrier.

"Not bad!" Gary greatly admired Shiny Metagross for staying composed in a crisis.

"But this won't do much," Gary continued after a brief pause, directing Arcanine again.

"Flare Blitz!"

At Gary's command, even fiercer flames erupted around Arcanine. Then, with unstoppable momentum, it charged toward Shiny Metagross.

Shiny Metagross did not lose out in momentum either. It likewise used Double-Edge and met the charging Arcanine head-on.

After only a few seconds, a white and a red streak of lightning collided. The two exchanged blows without yielding, and for a time, it was difficult to determine a winner between the two Pokémon.

However, Shiny Metagross was already injured. After a prolonged clash, the pain in its body began to drain its strength, putting it at a disadvantage.

The observant Arcanine noticed Shiny Metagross's abnormal state and immediately increased the intensity of its attacks.

As Arcanine intensified its assault, Shiny Metagross soon could no longer hold on. It was quickly struck by Arcanine's attack and sent flying backward.

After smashing through several stone pillars in a row, Shiny Metagross finally came to a stop.

Following that series of attacks, although Shiny Metagross had not completely become Unable to Battle, it was panting heavily.

At this point, Gary did not continue directing Arcanine to deliver the final blow. Instead, he slowly walked up to Shiny Metagross and said,

"Metagross, I think you understand my strength now. So, what do you say? Would you like to follow me?"

Gary extended his right hand toward Shiny Metagross, offering his invitation.

Having witnessed Gary's strength, along with the conditions Gary had promised earlier, Shiny Metagross looked at him before finally nodding and agreeing to be caught by Gary.

"Then, please take care of me from now on!"

Smiling, Gary took out a Poké Ball and recalled Shiny Metagross into it.

Thus, after spending several days, Gary had finally caught the Shiny Metagross he had longed for.

After catching Shiny Metagross, Gary did not leave immediately. Instead, he released the injured Shiny Metagross.

"Your injuries are serious. Let me treat them."

After saying that, Gary applied healing spray to Shiny Metagross while using the Viridian Power he had acquired not long ago to heal its injuries.

Watching Gary carefully tend to its wounds, Shiny Metagross's recognition of him as its Trainer deepened further.

Combined with the soothing sensation of its injuries healing, Shiny Metagross could not help narrowing its eyes, wearing an expression of enjoyment.

Gary naturally noticed this as well. Seeing that he had gained Shiny Metagross's recognition, he smiled faintly.
