Catching Elekid

After witnessing the strength of Gary's Umbreon, Elekid no longer looked down on it as it had at first. Its eyes stayed fixed on Umbreon, filled with gravity.

Umbreon, meanwhile, had received no command from Gary, so it made no move to attack and merely watched Elekid across from it with leisure.

After all, Elekid's strength was not yet enough for it to take seriously.

After staring at Umbreon for a while, Elekid was the first to lose patience and launched the first attack.

A bolt of lightning thicker than before flashed from Elekid's body and shot fiercely toward Umbreon.

"It's Thunderbolt. Umbreon, use Shadow Ball!"

Seeing the opponent's attack, Gary waved his hand and gave Umbreon the command.

Purple-black energy instantly gathered before Umbreon's mouth. Once it formed into a purple-black Energy Ball, Umbreon hurled it at the incoming Thunderbolt.

The result of the clash between the two moves did not exceed Gary's expectations. Elekid's Thunderbolt quickly collapsed upon contact with the Shadow Ball, turning into golden Energy Particles before vanishing completely.

Even though its attack had been ineffective, Elekid did not lose heart. After pinpointing Umbreon's position, it immediately turned into a streak of white lightning and charged toward Umbreon.

"Pretty clever!" Gary admired Elekid's sudden move, and a smile appeared on his face.

"But that won't work on us." Gary's expression turned serious as he called softly to Umbreon. "Umbreon, use Psychic!"

As Umbreon's eyes glowed, Elekid, which had still been in the midst of its charge, was immediately enveloped in a ghostly blue light. Its body could no longer move, and it was gradually forced off the ground.

There was no doubt that Elekid had been restrained by Umbreon's Psychic.

"Throw it!"

At Gary's command, Elekid, which had been held in midair, was immediately flung away by Umbreon. It did not stop until it slammed into a tree trunk behind it.

Although Elekid had been hit by Umbreon again and again, it still did not give up. Instead, it struggled to climb back to its feet.

Though covered in injuries, it continued to glare stubbornly at Gary and Umbreon with unyielding eyes.

"What tenacious Willpower!" Gary was surprised by Elekid's Willpower and could not help applauding. "Now I'm even more determined to catch you!"

Gary then put away his relaxed expression and adopted a solemn look as he directed Umbreon.

"To show our opponent the greatest respect, go all out. Use Dark Pulse!"

At Gary's command, immense Dark-type energy quickly gathered in Umbreon's mouth, forming a thick purple-black beam that surged toward Elekid with overwhelming force.

Upon seeing the menacing Dark Pulse, Elekid did not lose heart in the slightest. With a roar, it also gave everything it had and unleashed its strongest Thunderbolt.

A bolt of lightning even thicker than before met Umbreon's Thunderbolt head-on.

Although Elekid had gone all out, it was nothing before Umbreon, whose strength far surpassed its own. Dark Pulse quickly broke through the Thunderbolt's obstruction and struck Elekid behind it.

Engulfed by the purple-black beam, Elekid completely lost its Combat Ability amid an explosion and fainted.

"What a tough little guy!" Elekid had endured several rounds against Umbreon and remained so resolute that Gary's fondness for it deepened even further.

So after Elekid was defeated, Gary did not rush to take out a Poké Ball to catch it. Instead, after recalling Umbreon, he walked over to Elekid's side.

Gary then crouched down, placed his hand on Elekid's body, and used Viridian Power to heal its injuries.

Under the outstanding Healing Ability of Viridian Power, Elekid's wounds rapidly closed. Within just a few minutes, all the injuries on its body had disappeared.

Seeing this, Gary sensed that Elekid had recovered almost completely and withdrew his hand.

Elekid's condition was just as Gary had expected. As soon as the flow of Viridian Power stopped, it showed signs of waking up.

As Elekid's eyelids trembled slightly, it soon woke up completely.

The newly awakened Elekid instinctively leaped several meters away upon seeing Gary so close to it, putting distance between them to protect itself.

Gary did not say anything at the sight. He merely smiled softly.

However, Elekid quickly noticed something strange. It discovered that its previously severe injuries had all vanished, which left it greatly astonished.

But it soon remembered something. Raising its head to look at Gary before it, it did not need anyone to tell it that the person who had defeated it had also healed its wounds.

Facing Elekid's puzzled gaze, Gary smiled lightly and extended an invitation.

"Elekid, your strength and talent are both exceptional. You shouldn't live here in obscurity. Your stage should be the world."

After a pause, Gary continued, "So, how about it? Do you want to come with me?"

After hearing Gary's invitation, Elekid fell into deep thought. But after considering the strength Gary and Umbreon had displayed earlier, it immediately made up its mind.

Elekid suddenly raised its head and looked seriously at Gary across from it, then nodded and accepted his invitation.

Seeing that Elekid had agreed, Gary smiled slightly. He then took out a Poké Ball and said to Elekid, "You won't regret this decision."

After looking into Gary's sincere eyes, Elekid decisively pressed the button on the Poké Ball. Just like that, Elekid allowed itself to be caught without any resistance.

"My team is about to gain another powerful member!"

Gary looked at the Poké Ball containing Elekid in his hand, the smile never leaving his face.

"Now that Elekid has been caught, it's time for the reward. I wonder what I'll get next. I really can't wait!"
