Countless vines, thinner than fingers but an eerie deep black and as tough as steel wire,
burst from the ground!
As though they had eyes, they carried the damp, earthy smell of soil.
They silently crept up from the soles of the Root Suicide Corps members who had just charged onto the summit and coiled around them.

One of the Root Suicide Corps members at the front suddenly felt a chill around his ankles.
Looking down, he saw two black vines already clamped tight around them.
Without thinking, he drew the short sword from his back and hacked down hard!

A clear metallic ring sounded, and sparks flew.
His blade cleaved the tough vine in two.

before delight could appear on his face,
the severed end, driven by the divine tree origin,
went pop!
With that sharp sound, it split and grew ten thicker, harder black vines in just half a second!
Like a swarm of ravenous green leeches, they wrapped around his thighs even more fiercely.
"Why do more grow every time I cut them?!"
