Background / History

Naruto entered the Ninja Academy as Konoha's Nine-Tails jinchūriki. Villagers treated him as a monster, pulling their children away from him and teaching them to avoid him; he was isolated and learned to watch adults' reactions closely 2 30.

Natsuri became Naruto's first close friend after defending him from other children, and he began visiting her family home alongside Sasuke. Although initially cautious around Yushu, Naruto was welcomed at dinner and received a scroll as a gift 30 31. Yushu later arranged for Kakashi to visit Naruto more often, believing Naruto deserved better care than he had received 36.

Naruto admired Yushu after witnessing him defeat Root attackers, asking how to learn his glowing body and fire wings. Yushu encouraged him that he could one day achieve an even cooler glowing form 33. Influenced by Shisui and Yushu, Naruto became more mature, better dressed, and more popular among his peers; rumors that he was the Fourth Hokage's son also changed Konoha's perception of him 154.
