Chenshu Senju traced Tsunade to a hidden Root transfer station near the border of the Land of Fire and broke in to rescue her. He faced a dozen Root ninja as they prepared to move the iron chest containing her.

• Chenshu Senju found traces of poison on the letter and concluded Shimura Danzō had abducted Tsunade.
• Chenshu Senju ordered Sasuke Uchiha to guard the Hokage Building ruins and Senju Estate, then accepted a system quest to find Tsunade.
• Chenshu Senju activated Sage Mode and sensed Tsunade northwest of Konoha.
• Chenshu Senju located a concealed shack and discovered Root ninja preparing to haul away an iron chest that carried Tsunade's life force.

Chenshu Senju defeated the Root remnants sent after him and tortured their leader for information about Tsunade. He learned Danzo had taken Tsunade to the Land of Rain to bargain with the Akatsuki, and set off to confront him.

• The Root squad leader threw explosive tags at Chenshu Senju and ordered his men to flee, but Chenshu emerged unharmed and used Flying Thunder God to catch the lead ninja.
• Chenshu knocked out the fleeing Root ninja, then used Wood Release to bind the remaining squad members to trees.
• The squad leader refused to reveal Tsunade's whereabouts, so Chenshu crushed his arm while a terrified subordinate offered to talk.
• The subordinate said Danzo had taken Tsunade to the Land of Rain as a bargaining chip, hoping the Akatsuki would kill Chenshu in exchange for Danzo becoming Hokage.

Chenshu Senju encountered Akatsuki members Kakuzu and Hidan at a rain-soaked bounty exchange and attacked Kakuzu when they tried to claim his bounty. The chapter ended with Chenshu’s punch tearing through Kakuzu’s Earth Spear defense and destroying two of his hearts.

• Chenshu Senju traveled toward the Land of Rain after leaving the crippled Root remnants behind.

Chenshu Senju drove Kakuzu into retreat, restrained Hidan, and took a map marked with terrain and hidden bases along the Land of Rain's border. He left Hidan trapped in a wooden post and sank him in a swollen river while continuing to prioritize finding Tsunade and uncovering Danzo's conspiracy.

• Kakuzu destroyed three of his hearts, used his remaining chakra to escape, and fled into the forest.
• Hidan crawled out of the mud, saw Kakuzu fleeing, and loudly berated him for abandoning their partnership.
