Countless arcs of electricity engulfed the battlefield as Thunderbolt erupted at full power. Everything obstructing Pikachu was destroyed, and even Rillaboom was forced back, resorting to Protect to conserve stamina.
"What... is this?"
The electricity on the battlefield was so dazzling that Ye Lan could no longer make out Pikachu. Just as he was about to issue a command, a bolt of lightning struck Rillaboom mid-dodge!
Boom!
Rillaboom's left leg buckled. By the time the thunderous explosion rang out, Rillaboom was already down on one knee, a large patch of fur on the back scorched black.
Just as Rillaboom tried to stand, an Iron Tail wreathed in electricity slammed into Rillaboom's chest.
Boom!
Before Rillaboom could regain balance, another bolt fell. Nearly toppling to the ground, Rillaboom could only use the drumsticks to barely fend off Pikachu's relentless assault.
Watching Rillaboom take hit after hit on the battlefield, Ye Lan gritted his teeth. Rillaboom hadn't slowed down—Pikachu had become far too fast. This was almost the absolute limit of speed he had ever seen at Gym Leader level. Just what kind of technique was this?!
Worse still, the crackle of electricity filled the battlefield, completely drowning out the drumbeats. Rillaboom could no longer use rhythm to predict Pikachu's movements, while the constantly falling lightning further hampered Rillaboom's actions.
Ye Lan had lost track of how many moves he could recognize in Pikachu's current performance: Quick Attack, Thunder, Iron Tail, Thunderbolt. Even the damage of the Electric-type moves had increased considerably. The only drawback seemed to be a greatly diminished chance of paralysis. After so many Electric-type hits, not triggering paralysis even once was clearly abnormal.
If this continued, defeat was almost inevitable. But Ye Lan refused to believe that this Pikachu had unlimited stamina, and he had already seen through
