Fang Shu stared blankly at the head on the ground, his steps coming to a halt.
His reaction immediately drew the attention of those around him.
The hall disciple who had just savagely beheaded a miner at once grew restrained. Looking at Fang Shu, who had stopped walking, panic visibly spread across his face as he stammered, "Immortal... Immortal Master, do you know this man?"

The hall disciple's expression relaxed greatly. He hurriedly bowed to Fang Shu, then grabbed the head from the ground with one hand and dragged the headless corpse with the other. Like dragging a dead dog, he hauled it to the roadside and lined it up with the other corpses.
The man who had been beheaded was, in fact, an acquaintance of Fang Shu's.
His name was Tian Tianquan. He had once been a fellow passenger aboard the same ship as Fang Shu, coming here in search of immortality.
More than a year had passed. Fang Shu had successfully passed the trial and was about to enter the mountain and join the sect, while Tian Tianquan had been cut down like a pig or dog by the roadside. To be honest, it stirred quite a few feelings in Fang Shu.
