Cordyceps Parasitism Technique

Fang Shu walked out of the small stone room. Two people inside had not gone into seclusion: Mai Shenger and Black Mouse.

Carrying his things, he pondered for a moment. Rather than leaving without a word, he cupped his hands toward the two of them. "Fellow Daoists, Fang has found a way forward. It may be worth trying, so I shall take my leave first."

Mai Shenger and Black Mouse both abruptly turned their heads and looked up at him.

The looks in their eyes changed, especially Mai Shenger's. Her face was filled with surprise and curiosity.

The room fell silent for several breaths.

Black Mouse was the first to rise. He returned Fang Shu's salute and said gravely, "May Fellow Daoist Fang's journey go smoothly."

Mai Shenger could not hold herself back. She asked, "Fellow Daoist Fang, did you answer a recruitment notice, or are you going into seclusion?"

Faced with the question, Fang Shu did not answer. He merely smiled, cupped his hands toward them once more, then pushed open the stone door and vanished through it.

Once he had left, the stone room became even colder and lonelier.

Mai Shenger and Black Mouse remained in the room, a lone man and woman with not the slightest trace of romance between them—only oppression.

Envy and bewilderment mingled on Mai Shenger's face, along with a touch of unease. She could not help saying, "I never expected Fellow Daoist Fang to be someone who hid his depths so well."

Black Mouse was usually rather aloof, yet he too sighed. "Time waits for no one."

Then Black Mouse nodded to Mai Shenger and slipped into his own small stone room, though who knew what he intended to do there.

Mai Shenger alone remained. Her gaze drifted toward the small stone room
