Background / History

Fang Lu first appears as a talented senior cultivator associated with Solitary Gu Hall. She recognizes Fang Shu's strong body, rich Gu blood, and secondary secret art, though she regrets that his roots and bones initially seem ordinary. She gives him a booklet containing foundational Gu knowledge and encourages him to cultivate diligently until they meet again at the Five Viscera Temple. 51

By the time Fang Shu reaches the temple, Fang Lu privately earns spirit stones and talisman money through the flesh trade. Their accidental reunion exposes this hidden side of her life: she mistakes Fang Shu for a client before recognizing him. Rather than conceal the reality of her circumstances, she speaks frankly about how even qi-refining cultivators must struggle for cultivation resources. 135

Fang Shu later seeks her help to obtain a spirit-root method, materials, and a suitable place for seclusion. Fang Lu becomes his guarantor at Treasure Hall, putting herself up as collateral under a contract that could compel her into a wide range of services if Fang Shu defaults. Following Fang Shu's breakthrough to Qi Refinement, Fang Lu reveals her Lust Deer Clover spirit root and Peach Blossom Baleful Qi. Their relationship becomes intimate, but she remains concerned that Fang Shu's future prospects could be damaged by becoming too closely bound to her. 150 151

After failing to secure a furnace-cauldron position in Passion Hall, Fang Lu leaves her former business. She rebuilds her retreat around spirit-plant cultivation, spirit-pet work, and venomous-insect breeding, using her Killing Intent in a way better suited to long-term cultivation. 147 148 155

When conflict threatens the Five Viscera Temple, Fang Shu entrusts Fang Lu with the affairs of his Gu pits so that she can shelter within Venom Hall's resources and formations. During the ensuing years of war, she reaches the sixth tribulation and condenses astral qi.
