Charles turned toward where the sound had come from, but saw nothing.

He felt a faint breeze blowing toward him. Before the wind even reached him, the back of his neck went cold, as if someone had placed a block of ice there.

Danger! Grave danger!

Charles turned and ran. The danger within the city gate tunnel was unknown; perhaps it merely looked frightening.

But the wind blowing from behind him had now been confirmed as dangerous.
