Charles did not move. He did not even dare look directly at that mass of monster.
This monster was much faster than the severed head Charles had encountered before.
It was larger, too. Charles had no idea whether he could defeat it.
The middle-aged man's screams continued for quite a while, until the coiling intestines strangled his entire body apart.
The middle-aged man's head was plucked off, and the guts in his belly were not wasted either, seeming to meld into that monster's body.
Visible to the naked eye, the mass of monster grew a full circle larger.
On the distant street, the monster had plucked off the middle-aged man's head. A tentacle-like intestine was thrust into the head, holding it aloft.
The next moment, the middle-aged man's voice came from outside again. This time, however, it made Charles's skin crawl.
The monster slowly wriggled along, its voice continuously drifting from nearby.
At first, the sounds had no pattern, and the words were indistinct. But after several sentences, they became the middle-aged man's final words before his death.
"Me save?"
"Ah, monster!"
"Is anyone there?"
"Is anyone there?"
"Save me?"
"What is this place?"
Charles watched from the corner of his eye as the monster gradually crawled away, not daring to make the slightest unusual movement.
But before the monster had gone far, its good fortune ran out.
A dark shadow flew overhead, so fast that Charles could not make it out even from the corner of his eye.
Almost instantly, the writhing monster in the street vanished, as if it had been snatched away by an aerial predator.
"Smack!"
The monster had been taken away, but the middle-aged man's head instead fell from the air and smashed apart.
The Shadow Nightmare Realm was simply too dangerous!
Charles did not
