For a moment, Charles was confused, but then he instantly remembered.

In Bansler, the city where he had discovered the Book of Causal Paths.

There had been two other objects displayed alongside the Book of Causal Paths.

One was a Fruit Core, and the other was a beam of light.

The Fruit Core had been taken away, but that beam of light could not be moved and had remained where it was.

It had remained in the doomed Bansler.

Charles hesitated before asking, "That beam of light is origin power?"

The Book of Causal Paths said, "That's right. That beam of light is the origin power Alasta collected."

"He originally wanted to use that origin power as the foundation to ascend into a seventh-rank being."

"But you know the final outcome. His plan failed, he was transformed into a book, and that portion of origin power which had not been absorbed or ascended remained in that city on the brink of destruction."

"Back then, you were merely a little second-ring wizard. Naturally, you could neither take away that origin power nor use it."

"But you are different now. You are already a powerful sixth-ring wizard. Your strength is great enough for you to take away and use that origin power."

"Well? Is this gift enough?"

The Omniscient Carbuncle let out an evil laugh. "Well? The Book of Causal Paths didn't tell you back then that it was origin power, did it?"

"Didn't you ask him how to obtain origin power, only for him to refuse to tell you that a portion of origin power sufficient to let you ascend into a seventh-ring wizard was hidden in that ruined city?"
