Paradox

Demogorgon's avatar looked at Charles's avatar and said, "That's right."

"If you continue with certain experiments, it will become a new catastrophe. Your only paths are death or joining us."

Charles nodded. He understood his current predicament.

Once the Book of Causal Paths and the Omniscient Carbuncle fused, they would become a new catastrophe.

But Charles still did not understand where this catastrophe would arise from, or what form it would take.

If the Book of Causal Paths were devoured by the Omniscient Carbuncle, then by the Omniscient Carbuncle's account, he would merely become an origin powerhouse.

Moreover, he would not leave the Shadow Nightmare Realm. He would simply remain within it, roaming the river of time.

Thinking of the river of time—

Charles suddenly realized something.

Even after becoming an origin powerhouse, he still could not interfere with time in any way.

The other powerhouses likewise seemed unable to affect time.

The only one who seemed capable of controlling time was Charles.

He could place himself within the cracks of time.

Yet by his own account, he did not even count as an origin powerhouse now.

Charles had also learned from the Book of Causal Paths—

Above the realm of powerhouses was another realm: immortality.

Only immortals could coexist with the multiverse, and even continue to exist after the multiverse was destroyed.

The Omniscient Carbuncle had not become an origin, nor had the Book of Causal Paths.

So how did they know of something even more powerful than an origin?

Charles said to Demogorgon, "Your Majesty Demogorgon, I am willing to join the Bottomless Abyss."

"But please give me some more time. My true body is currently in the universe, absorbing origin power. I have no intention of conducting any other experiments or changing the universe's current state."
