After leaving Anderson, Charles arrived at the bird's nest on the next level.
This was the nest of Lady Boxi and her descendants.
Many kinds of ravens, large and small, flew through the air.
Upon arriving, Charles bowed respectfully to Boxi. "Lady Boxi, I'm sorry to trouble you again."
Lady Boxi remained seated in her chair. She wore a robe and glasses, and seemed remarkably human.
Her voice was gentle as she said, "Good child, Charles, I already know what happened."
"Anderson asked me to prepare three suitable spirit companions. Come and choose one."
As she spoke, Lady Boxi pushed the three Demon-Sealing Boxes on the table toward Charles.
Lady Boxi flapped her wings, and all three boxes opened at once.
Inside the boxes were three eggs.
The feathers on Lady Boxi's wings touched the Demon-Sealing Boxes as she said, "These are all eggs of suitable spirit companions, and they're currently sealed. Once you make a contract with one using your soul, it'll be able to hatch."
"Use your mental power to reach out to each of these little fellows and see which one responds to you most harmoniously."
"Choose the one that feels best as your spirit companion."
Charles looked at the eggs. They were all different sizes. The smallest was only palm-sized, while the largest was about as big as a watermelon.
"Lady Boxi, what creatures are inside these eggs?"
Lady Boxi adjusted her glasses, a smile in her voice. "I'll tell you after you've chosen. If I tell you beforehand, it might influence your judgment."
Charles could only nod.
He began using his mental power to communicate with each of the three eggs.
