The demon baron, already grievously wounded, was now utterly unable to resist.
Charles cast a Firestorm, cutting off the surrounding area.
Then he flashed directly to the devil baron's side.
The Flame Execution Sword came crashing down.
"No! That's my prey!"
"You can't do this!"
Another greater demon let out a terrifying cry, still trying to wrest this spoils of war from Charles.
"Roar!"
But Charles roared back, dragging an Abyssal Disintegration in his hand.
"Idiot, if you dare fight me for it, I'll kill you outright!"
Charles's earlier Abyssal Disintegration, carrying the power of six complete laws, had nearly killed the devil baron in a single blow.
This greater demon was injured as well. How could it dare clash head-on with Charles?
Charles snorted coldly, a glint of frost flashing through his eyes. "Idiot, if you're willing to help me seize other devil barons, then this devil baron's corpse—and the next one's as well—will be yours."
There were three benefits to killing a devil baron.
First was the Abyss's favor, second was the devil's heart core, and third was the devil's corpse.
In order of value, they were the favor, the heart core, and the corpse.
The earlier benefits were greater, while the corpse was worth the least.
But even a corpse was still a fine treasure.
If a greater demon consumed it, it could not gain the power of laws, but it could enhance its physical strength.
Having already been unable to outcompete Charles, the greater demon was immediately intrigued.
The greater demon stopped moving. Charles swung his sword and killed the devil baron, then dug out its demon heart core.
As for the corpse, he had no interest in it whatsoever. Carrying it in one hand, he asked, "Are you willing or not?"
