Under Henry's incredulous gaze, Locke bent down, his hands as steady as the sturdiest hydraulic jacks as they firmly supported the cold, heavy chassis!

A low grunt of exertion seemed to pierce through the wind and snow.

The heavy van trapped in the mud and snow was lifted entirely off the ground!

As easily as moving a toy, he raised it out of the ditch and set it steadily back onto the solid road shoulder!

The entire process seemed effortless, and the vehicle did not even sway violently.

"God."

Old Henry muttered, his legs giving way beneath him.

He dropped to his knees in the snow and looked at Locke, his eyes unfocused. "Have you come to take me away?"

"God isn't helping you right now."

Locke wiped the snowmelt from his face and pulled the old man to his feet. "Quick! While all the sheep are still here, let's reinforce your pen first! This lousy frame won't hold much longer!"

His sharp gaze swept across the crude fence groaning in the gale at the mouth of the cave, ready to collapse at any moment. He immediately spotted a thick oak branch snapped off by the storm beside the road, along with scattered lengths of tangled wire fencing.

Bracing themselves against winds strong enough to knock a person down, the two began desperately reinforcing the fence outside the cave amid the blizzard.

Dragging the heavy trunk section to the cave entrance with his bare hands, Locke drove it deep into the frozen earth as a support post. He then deftly and powerfully twisted the loose wire fencing tight again, securing it to the trunk and the remaining wooden
