Background / History

The True Martial Sect is one of the thirty-six strongest sect forces in the Great Jin Dynasty and one of its undisputed three foremost powers. Though described as having a slightly weaker overall foundation than Purple Sun Temple, it possesses the Great Jin Dynasty's strongest expert, the Blade King, as its pillar. Its emphasis on blade cultivation and comparatively free disciple development helped distinguish it from its rivals. 4 9

The sect is headquartered in True Martial City, a sprawling coastal city in Langya Prefecture. The city is protected by a massive formation, centered on a great palace and the cloud-reaching True Martial Stele. 32

A century before the main story, the True Martial Sect joined Purple Sun Temple and the Limitless Sword Sect in a major campaign against Devil Dao sects. Led personally by the Blade King after Yellow Springs Old Devil was defeated, the campaign destroyed numerous demonic factions and forced the survivors into hiding. 145

During the Demon Race invasion, the sect dispatched ten thousand disciples to Dragon Suppression Fortress under the Sword Venerable's leadership. The Blade King also changed the annual sect competition: direct-disciple status would be determined by wartime military merit rather than arena battles. 94

In later years, the sect's strength expands dramatically. Eleven of its venerables—including Xiao Yun, Luo Qian, Song Cheng, and Qin Yuantu—reach the Heaven Origin Realm, and the sect takes a leading role in preserving and distributing high-grade inheritances for humanity. 343 351

True Martial Canon

The True Martial Canon is the sect's foundational Heaven-tier cultivation art and an untransmitted secret.

Recruitment and Rules

The True Martial Sect recruits through the annual Martial Academy Grand Competition, competing directly with the other major powers for exceptional young martial artists. Its yearly recruitment quota was four disciples during Liang Bo's competition. 5 30

The sect presented itself to Liang Bo as a place of self-discipline rather than rigid development plans. Its representative argued that overly structured cultivation could restrict a genius's growth and promised Liang Bo considerable freedom, as well as possible guidance from the Blade King. 9
