Harrot's battles and training over the past few days hadn't earned him another level, but his weapon proficiency had greatly improved.
He had read 95% of the Sword Fighting Manual and would soon finish it, gaining 1 point in the Weapon Mastery skill.
He had also nearly mastered the Dragon Slaying Sword Art, able to instinctively use its moves, a huge improvement over his previous haphazard attacks.
After warming up, Harrot quietly waited at an entrance to the Gladiatorial Arena for his turn.
The Bald Man didn't disturb Harrot, simply and silently swapping his greatsword for a sharper one.
Doing this wasn't allowed when fighting other Gladiators, but when facing Magical Beasts, such details were inconsequential.
While many spectators found Man-Beast Combat too cruel and stopped watching, it was still generally very popular. And today, the renowned God of War, Harrot, was fighting a Magical Beast alone—how could anyone miss such an exciting contest?
The stands were almost full, with several Nobles' children in attendance, all eagerly anticipating today's gladiatorial match.
The host had begun warming up the crowd, shouting through a megaphone, "Magical Beasts have always been synonymous with terror and power! And today, our God of War, Harrot, will challenge a powerful and terrifying Magical Beast all by himself!"
The iron gate in front of Harrot opened. This time, he was entering first, seemingly because people generally believed the Magical Beast's combat power was greater than his, the "God of War."
It was an unwritten rule of the Gladiatorial Arena: the weaker combatant enters first.
Today, Harrot no longer had the calm composure he'd shown in previous gladiator matches. He didn't listen to the host's nonsense, instead closing his eyes and taking deep breaths to adjust his state.
Soon after, he heard the host shout, "The Magical Beast enters!"
The iron gate at a Gladiatorial Arena entrance in front of Harrot opened, and an enormous "hyena" charged out.
The Bald Man's so-called "not large" was relative to other Magical Beasts, but for a "hyena," this creature was absurdly huge, standing over a meter tall and more than three meters long!
The "hyena" Magical Beast's eyes were bloodshot, fixated on Harrot, who was closest. It roared and charged forward.
It hadn't eaten in days and was now ravenously hungry. Upon seeing "prey," it immediately began to hunt.
"This Magical Beast isn't that big. As long as I can deal with its Magic, I can win!" Harrot internally encouraged himself.
Harrot stared intently at the Magical Beast charging towards him, not daring to relax in the slightest. Magical Beasts usually made obvious movements when casting Magic, and preparing to dodge in advance would make it easier to avoid magical attacks.
The "hyena" sprinted to within about 10 meters of Harrot before suddenly stopping, its mouth wide open, as if about to spit something out.
"Here it comes," Harrot quickly opened his eyes wide, observing the commotion. What kind of Magic would it be?
The Magical Beasts bought by the Gladiatorial Arena were generally not very strong. This was partly due to the difficulty of capturing and containing them, and also to ensure the safety of the audience. The arena walls couldn't contain overly powerful Magical Beasts.
Harrot's eyes were locked on the "hyena" Magical Beast, his mind racing: "Fireball? Ice arrow? Or a stone spike? Wind blade?"
Humans in this world couldn't learn or master Magic, and there was very little research into it.
The Bald Man only knew that Magic roughly consisted of four elements—earth, water, fire, and wind—and information about the four lowest-level and most common basic spells. He knew little about other, more advanced Magic.
However, most Magical Beasts previously bought by the Gladiatorial Arena only used those four common basic spells, so Harrot tentatively made that assumption.
Yet, to Harrot's horror, the "hyena" Magical Beast didn't use any of those four basic spells!
Instead, a pale green, translucent whirlwind swept towards Harrot.
The whirlwind was massive, over 5 meters high and more than 4 meters wide, and incredibly fast. Wind-type Magic was the fastest of the four types!
Although Harrot's 10 Agility and lv3 Running skill made him much faster than ordinary people, he still couldn't dodge in time.
"Can't dodge! I'll just have to take it head-on. Hope that +30 defense is enough!" In desperation, Harrot covered his head with both hands and took the magical attack directly.
The fierce wind tore at Harrot's body, like countless tiny knives cutting his skin. In just an instant, Harrot's body was covered in countless wounds.
"Ahhhhhhh!" The whirlwind continued to envelop Harrot's body, constantly cutting and spinning, making Harrot feel as if he were in a meat grinder. The intense pain made him scream loudly, an agony no less than being slowly sliced to death.
After enduring it for a few seconds, the wind stopped. Harrot was covered in blood, sprawled on the ground in a pathetic state. There wasn't a patch of skin on his body the size of a palm that was unharmed.
The greatsword in Harrot's hand had long since fallen somewhere, and blood flowed from countless wounds, staining the surrounding ground red.
At this point, he looked like he was barely clinging to life. Forget continuing the fight; he probably couldn't even stand up.
The audience was stunned by the sight. They had originally thought that Harrot, the God of War, even if he wasn't a match for the Magical Beast, should at least put up a struggle for a while. They never expected him to be instantly killed without any resistance!
The "hyena" Magical Beast let out a few cruel roars, then strutted triumphantly towards the "incapacitated" Harrot. It was time for it to "dine"!
"By the sun, this can't be real!"
"This is too cruel! Can one person really fight this kind of Magical Beast?"
"Get up! Don't give up just like that!"
The audience roared, unable to accept such an outcome.
Harrot still lay motionless on the ground, while the Magical Beast "Hyena" was closing in on him.
Many of the more sensitive audience members couldn't help but close their eyes. Even Harrot's "fans" who had been cheering him on lost hope, and their shouts gradually died down.
Scarface chuckled sinisterly, "Hahahaha, that's what you get for disrespecting me! This is the consequence of defying me!"
Meanwhile, The Bald Man was greatly alarmed when he saw Harrot hit by an unknown, powerful Magic. He barely managed to resist the urge to rush in and save him.
Although Harrot was very important to him, the rules of the Gladiatorial Arena could not be broken. If he were transferred by the Count due to his impulsiveness, Scarface would only intensify his oppression of the other Gladiators.
At this moment, he could only hope for Harrot's terrifying vitality. After all, he had survived against a troll!
So, what about Harrot now? What was his condition?
Harrot was incredibly clear-headed, though his heart pounded with tension. His health was at 20 points! 20/52!
The power of that Magic spell just now far exceeded Harrot's imagination. Harrot had thought that with the "+30 Golden Bell Shield" protecting him, he wouldn't suffer too serious an injury.
After all, although this whirlwind was a Magic attack, its effect was still similar to the physical damage from sharp blades, and it could be mitigated by his "+30 Defense."
The whirlwind's cutting was an all-around, multi-hit attack. Logically, it should have been perfectly countered by Harrot's "Golden Bell Shield," as 30 Defense was comparable to a thinner chainmail. Although the small wind blades were sharp, they didn't have much force.
Unfortunately, the power of Magic was truly unreasonable. The 30 Defense wasn't enough to completely block the damage, and Harrot was still severely wounded.
His health dropped by 32 points in an instant, from a full 52 down to 20. Thanks to his semi-quantified body, Harrot still retained his full combat effectiveness.
But who knew if that Magical Beast would launch another Magic attack? 20 health wasn't enough to withstand another hit. Harrot quickly played dead, hoping to trick the Magical Beast.
The Magical Beast "Hyena" wasn't particularly intelligent, and it was very confident in its Magic.
It didn't believe that Harrot, after enduring its Magic attack, could still resist. It confidently approached the "dying" Harrot.
This "Whirlwind Magic" was fast, covered a large area, and was extremely difficult to dodge. The spinning slashes after hitting an opponent were incredibly lethal. It was indeed hard to imagine anyone being able to withstand it!
If anyone else had taken that hit, even the incredibly powerful The Bald Man, they would have been shredded into mincemeat!
After all, no matter how strong The Bald Man was, he couldn't have the invisible armor protection that Harrot did. No matter how solid his muscles were, they couldn't withstand the cutting of Magic wind blades.
Of course, this was assuming a direct hit. In an actual fight, given The Bald Man's reaction time and speed, he would have a chance to dodge this Magic.
The Magical Beast "Hyena" walked up to Harrot, opened its mouth wide, and bit at Harrot's throat, preparing to finish off this tenacious enemy.
Suddenly, Harrot exploded into action. He extended his left hand to block the Magical Beast "Hyena"'s bite, and with his other hand, he punched the "Hyena" in the stomach.
While the Magical Beast "Hyena"'s Magic was powerful, its physical abilities were limited. Its bite force wasn't terrifying, and it was impossible for it to bite through Harrot's arm, which was protected by the "Golden Bell Shield."
In contrast, Harrot, with his 21 points of immense strength and the boosts from Lv6 Power Strike and Heavy Strike, caused the "Hyena" to break one or two bones with that single punch.
The "Hyena" yelped in pain and released Harrot's arm, trying to move away and cast Magic again. It felt that Harrot was too strong and didn't dare to engage in close combat anymore.
Harrot wouldn't give it that chance. He lunged forward, pulling the "Hyena" back. Ignoring the "Hyena"'s counterattacks, he furiously unleashed a barrage of punches on his opponent.
Countless wounds on Harrot's body burst open with fresh blood again due to his intense movements. Harrot felt an unbearable itch and pain all over, and he couldn't help but let out a loud cry. He simply continued to shout and punch the Magical Beast in front of him.
"Ora Ora Ora, Ora Ora Ora…"
Harrot inexplicably thought of the word "Ora," a phrase he particularly liked from his previous life. He decided to borrow it now.
The Magical Beast "Hyena" had never encountered such a ferocious enemy before. Its morale was instantly crushed, and it reeled from Harrot's iron fists.
"Ora Ora Ora…"
Harrot felt like he hadn't had enough. He simply picked up the "Hyena" and threw it into the air, continuously punching it to prevent it from falling back down.
The "Hyena"'s head, stomach, chest, and limbs all suffered Harrot's heavy blows. Blood burst from its entire body, and it no longer had any power to resist.
"Ora Ora Ora…"
The "+30 Armor" was incredibly effective in close-quarters combat, effectively negating recoil damage from attacks. His fists didn't suffer any damage even when striking the "Hyena"'s hard bones, giving off a feeling akin to "Armament Haki."
Despite the intense pain throughout his body, Harrot performed exceptionally, continuously punching and keeping the "Hyena" suspended in the air for over ten seconds.
When he stopped and let the "Hyena" drop to the ground, this terrifying Magical Beast was completely dead, its body battered into a pulp, with hardly any bones left intact.
If the "animal lovers" from his previous life had seen this, they would have severely protested and condemned it!
Unfortunately, there were no "condemnation enthusiasts" in this alternate world. All the spectators cheered wildly for Harrot and showered him with rewards.
They had witnessed Harrot directly endure a terrifying Magic attack, bleed profusely, fall, and then bravely stand up again, performing the heroic feat of killing the Magical Beast with his severely injured body.
Although this gladiatorial match was very short, ending in less than two minutes, it still left the audience feeling incredibly excited and thrilled. Many spectators were still shouting "Ora Ora!"
