"Did you understand it?"
Inside the Little Black Room, Justina curiously asked Jia Xiu, who had not made a sound for quite some time.
She truly wanted to know whether Jia Xiu could study—or even replicate—the divine magic bestowed by Holy Light.
No one in the Church had ever done such a thing before.
Whatever the gods they served bestowed, that was what everyone used.
They only studied how to better receive divine blessings and how to wield those blessings more skillfully.
It seemed that no one had ever even thought about figuring out the principles behind blessings.
It was not even among the taboos of blaspheming the gods.
It was simply... something nobody had ever considered.
That was also why Clerics were the greatest oddity among all spellcasters.
Whether they were Mages, Druids, Sorcerers, or Warlocks, they all needed to study spells from the standpoint of their underlying principles.
Mages went without saying—their strength depended entirely on research.
Druids needed to "feel and understand" nature. Long ago, the way they felt nature had been rather mystical, but as the times developed, it had begun to grow more scientific as well. Otherwise, Mia's thesis would not have caused such a huge stir.
Warlocks had to study too. Much of the arcane knowledge and powerful strength they received from the Sect Master needed to be learned and integrated.
Even Sorcerers, though they generally did not study additional spell knowledge, still needed to learn how to control the magical power inherited through their bloodlines.
Only Clerics were different.
They truly "neither studied nor trained," relying entirely on devotion.
Jia Xiu's method—giving her spells he could not use himself, having her learn them first, then bestowing them through the divine-bestowal process—was absolutely not something that could happen in an ordinary "Cleric and god"
