Background / History
Human Transformation and Sacrifice
Ah Yin originally transformed from a hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor into a human to seek godhood and protect her kin. She left Blue Silver Valley, met Tang Hao of the Haotian Sect, and gave birth to Tang San. After Spirit Hall’s Pontiff Qian Xunji discovered her identity and pursued her, she sacrificed herself to save Tang Hao, granting him her soul ring and soul bone and helping him cross the level-ninety threshold 10 16.
Her racial ability allowed her to survive through a remaining trace of origin. Tang Hao planted her seed in a cave behind a waterfall, where she remained for six years. When Ling Xuqing found her, her leaves were tattered and withered, and her light was barely visible 9 10 32.
Absorption and Soul Spirit Binding
Ling Xuqing removed Ah Yin and her stored right leg bone from the cave, intending to absorb both. She pleaded to be spared and allowed to find Tang Hao. Ling Xuqing instead argued that Tang Hao had deliberately exposed her to Spirit Hall and used her sacrifice to obtain a hundred-thousand-year ring and bone. His accusations shattered her confidence in Tang Hao, and he absorbed her origin while she was overwhelmed by grief 9 10.
Ah Yin’s remnant soul survived inside the right leg bone after it fused with Ling Xuqing. Offered a choice between becoming his Soul Spirit and reincarnation, she chose the former because she did not want to forget her pain and wanted to witness Tang Hao’s eventual fate. The resulting binding placed her under Ling Xuqing’s control and linked her survival and condition to his 16 17.
Rejection of Tang Hao and Tang San
After Ling Xuqing told her that an otherworldly soul had possessed her son’s body, Ah Yin ceased to regard the present Tang San as her child. She believed her real son was already dead and treated the possessor with disgust, supporting Ling Xuqing’s confrontations with him 28 60 66.
When Tang Hao ambushed Ling Xuqing’s group outside Nuoding City, Ah Yin emerged to confront him. She accused him of abandoning her in the dark cave and demanded an explanation for Spirit Hall’s precise knowledge of her identity and whereabouts. She declared that only hatred remained between them. Tang Hao attempted to strike her after detonating his soul rings, but the attack failed and he escaped severely injured 31 32.
Cultivation and Return to Blue Silver Valley
Ah Yin supported Ling Xuqing’s cultivation at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, supplying life-origin energy during his dangerous body-tempering trial. Over the following six years, she gained a fully condensed physical body. Once her origin solidified, she proposed returning to Blue Silver Valley to recover it completely and strengthen Ling Xuqing through another origin fusion 36 53.
Her return brought an emotional reunion with the eighty-five-thousand-year Blue Silver Grass King, whom she addressed as “Elder Clan Chief.” She apologized to her subjects for making them wait. Their accumulated faith restored her origin over half a month, after which she fused with Ling Xuqing and enabled him to awaken the Blue Silver Emperor martial soul 54 55 56.
At Shrek Academy, she continued to support Ling Xuqing against Tang San. When the group later revealed its concealed strength to Ning Rongrong, Ah Yin appeared beside him and identified herself as both his Soul Spirit and the provider of his Blue Silver Emperor origin 67 84.
Appearance
- Weakened plant form: Blue Silver Grass with tattered, withered leaves and a faint blue glow 9.
- Spirit body: A beautiful woman in a light blue long dress, with a gentle bearing and lingering sorrow between her brows 18 32.
- Restored form: White-jade-like skin with a warm, sacred luster; eyes expressing imperial nobility and compassion; an aura of abundant vitality rather than fragility 55.
Personality
Ah Yin is gentle and attentive toward those she accepts as family. She checks Ling Xuqing for injuries after his violent bloodline refinement, comforts Zhu Zhuqing with an embrace, and expresses guilt and affection toward the Blue Silver clan upon returning home 31 54 58.
Her gentleness contrasts sharply with her attitude toward perceived betrayal. Initially desperate to defend Tang Hao, she later rejects him with hatred. She is equally hostile toward the present Tang San, whom she considers her son’s possessor, and takes satisfaction in his defeat. She also approves harsh punishment for enemies and becomes openly possessive when other women show interest in Ling Xuqing 10 32 52 62 67.
Her attachment to Ling Xuqing develops beyond the compulsory Soul Spirit bond. After years of having given up on men, she begins to show tenderness toward him; their complete origin fusion leaves her visibly affectionate and easily embarrassed 53 56 57.
