It was not only the soldiers guarding the city. Havenlight as a whole had been awakened by that thunderous blast.
The pitch-black city instantly lit up, street after street of lamps flaring to life. Already living under an atmosphere of tension, who could possibly remain asleep after such a tremendous boom came from the sky? People could only pour out of their homes, staring upward in stunned disbelief.
St. Peter's Cathedral was even more so. In barely a dozen seconds, priests wreathed in Holy Light flew out one after another.
Yet the figure in the sky did not linger for long.
Boom!
Another thunderous blast rang out. Everyone clearly saw a blue-glowing fist shoot forth and crash straight into Havenlight's city-protecting barrier. The barrier shuddered violently, and the punch blasted a huge hole through it.
—It seemed exactly like the sight they had witnessed several months ago.
After the barrier was breached, the figure in the sky took the water bubble containing a person and shot through the hole with a whoosh, vanishing beyond Havenlight's southeast.
"Damn it... He got away again!"
By the time the priests reached the breach in the barrier, not even a shadow remained in sight. No matter how unwilling they were, they could only abandon the pursuit.
Before long, more than a dozen bishops stationed in the city flew over as well. After hearing what had happened, they stared at the hole punched through the barrier, their faces darkening until they looked as ugly as if they had swallowed shit.
"My lords, what should we do now?" a priest asked cautiously.
"Notify every watchtower near the Royal Capital. That brat flew all the way out—we can definitely determine the direction of his escape! We need to find a way to keep him within the country."
