Seeing this, Hibari was stunned again. Seriously, you're all just leaving? Not even leaving someone to watch the place? Aren't you worried this is a diversion?
The fire had broken out far too conveniently. Normally, the Second Raikage and his men would surely have given it more thought. But today, everything just happened to line up... Man, you people really are careless!
Still, that was fine. Hibari reconsidered. Doesn't this make things easier for me? Since you're being so generous, I won't hold back.
The next second, he burst out of the river with a splash and instantly returned to human form. With a light push of his foot, he became a blurry dark shadow and slipped smoothly into the Raikage's office building.
There really weren't many people left inside. Only a handful of guards were patrolling the floors. They were probably the office building's last line of defense.
With little effort, Hibari slipped silently past the guards and reached the door to the Raikage's Office. He took a deep breath, glanced both ways, then gripped the handle and gently turned it... Huh? It wouldn't budge.
"At least they aren't careless enough to leave without locking the door..." Hibari muttered, fishing a few lockpicks out of the little tool pouch at his waist.
Half a year ago, he hadn't known the first thing about this craft. But he hadn't spent his time in the Anbu merely throwing his weight around. He had swallowed his pride and learned all sorts of odd skills from subordinates with their own "special talents."
For a department built for assassination, lockpicking was a basic skill.
Before long, the lock gave a quiet click, and the door opened. Hibari pulled it open a crack, squeezed through, then gently closed it behind him, leaving it perfectly shut.
