Background

Li Sanshun is a transmigrator from modern Earth, where he died after driving off a suspension bridge during a car accident. He awakens with the memories of his new life: an orphan from Linshui Township who was raised by a man known as the Old Rascal and survived by cleaning temples and clearing refuse. 1

After finding a sack of jade fragments, he is robbed and beaten to death by Zhang Laosan, Chen Laowu, and Wang Laoliu, then discarded in a sewer. His breathing-based system restores his consciousness and lets him accumulate life energy from the air, allowing him to survive. 1 2

Following his recovery and retaliation against the three attackers, Li Sanshun learns that the Old Rascal is a powerful cultivator. The old man leaves him a complete Primordial Origin Art, a Marrow-Cleansing Pill, a gold blade, money, and directions to seek entry into the Tai Xuan Sect before disappearing. 3 4

Appearance

Li Sanshun initially emerges from the sewer covered in sewage, badly wounded, pale, and disheveled. He generally arrives at the Tai Xuan Sect in plain clothing, which contributes to others initially dismissing him as a rural commoner. 1 4 5

  • Has a faint scar at the end of his left eyebrow, visible in the childhood portrait used by Ji Jingyao to identify him. 14
  • Bears a three-petaled red birthmark on his left foot, matching the mark on the Seal of Destiny’s master mold. 43
  • His physique is substantially improved after consuming the Marrow-Cleansing Pill. 4

Personality

Li Sanshun is highly resilient and pragmatic. He endures hundreds of breaths of sewer air to survive, uses dangerous or unpleasant environments to his advantage, and rapidly adapts to cultivation techniques that others consider unsuitable for his five-element mixed roots. 1 7 22

He is also blunt toward people who rely on status or corruption. He challenges Han Zhao’s obstructive conduct, exposes Sun Huai’s embezzlement through the distribution ledger, and repeatedly refuses to yield to Zhao Yuanqing’s provocations. 5 6 10

Although clues point to an imperial background, Li Sanshun remains cautious about accepting it. He refuses Ji Jingyao’s proposed guardianship without verification and insists that any blood appraisal be conducted publicly by the Tai Xuan Sect, the imperial envoy group, and the Alchemy Alliance. 14 17 28 29

Abilities & Skills

Breath-Based Life-Energy Recovery

Li Sanshun’s system converts inhaled air and spiritual vapors into life energy; the amount gained depends on the source’s quality. 1 2

  • Foul sewer air grants only 0.01 Life Energy per breath, while fresh air grants 0.1. 1
  • Immortal energy from the Fragmented Jade Bag grants 10 Life Energy per breath, allowing his Life Energy to exceed its initial cap. 2
  • Can convert Life Energy into Immortal Art Power, preventing the Spirit-Suppressing Rune from exhausting him on the Immortal-Asking Stairs. 7
  • Gains recovery and cultivation benefits from compatible five-element array energy. 7 11
  • Can rapidly recover from injuries by inhaling unusual spiritual vapors, including Rotten Wood Spiritual Qi and Black Iron Quenching Spirit Vapor. 22 43
  • Repeated absorption of the same array energy produces diminishing returns. 7

Scent and Energy Analysis

His system identifies substances and residual energy through inhalation, making him valuable in investigations. 18 19

  • Detects Corpse-Bone Water, Breath-Closing Powder, and residual human aura in a prison ventilation shaft. 18
  • Identifies components in toxic smoke, including Corpse-Bone Vine and Red Saltpeter Powder. 19
  • Recognizes ancient imperial blood and confirms a 100% match with his own blood aura. 42
  • Tracks residual cultivator energy and identifies the realm of nearby targets. 43

Primordial Origin Art

Li Sanshun cultivates the Primordial Origin Art, first discovered within the Fragmented Jade Bag and later supplemented by materials tied to the Scripture Library’s hidden ninth floor. 2 11 12

  • Uses excess Life Energy to condense his dantian and enter Qi Refining. 2
  • Grants the basic skill Hunyuan Heaven and Earth, enabling control of five-element immortal arts. 2
  • Can form basic fire and water techniques and manipulate earth-element energy. 6
  • Disperses the Heart-Refining Gate illusion by absorbing its five-element energy. 7
  • Supports a complete five-element circulation rather than allowing his five spirit roots to conflict. 11

Five Elements Synchronization

Unlike ordinary five-element mixed-root cultivators, Li Sanshun’s wood, fire, earth, metal, and water qi can circulate in sequence and reinforce one another. 8 11

  • Activates all five Spirit-Drawing Pillars simultaneously. 11
  • Replenishes a stalled Spirit-Drawing Array by linking water, earth, wood, fire, and metal techniques into a cycle. 11
  • Raises all five pillars to seven feet five inches, surpassing Zhao Yuanqing’s seven feet three inches and winning access to the Grade A Spirit-Gathering Room. 11
  • His simultaneous five-element circulation activates the Gold Blade’s second seal. 13

Earth-Element Manipulation

Li Sanshun frequently uses earth-element power for combat, mobility, and formation interference. 3 43

  • Shatters the stone lion containing the Old Rascal’s hidden luggage. 3
  • Sinks Spirit-Locking Nails and breaks their array patterns during the West Mountain assassination attempt. 43
  • Raises stone walls and manipulates furnace-yard flagstones to restrain stronger opponents. 43
  • Smothers fire arrows by churning soil upward and later helps reverse the enemy’s array eyes. 50

Enhanced Physique and Endurance

The Marrow-Cleansing Pill strengthens Li Sanshun’s body, raises his Life Energy cap by 50 points, increases his longevity cap by five years, and improves his cultivation circulation efficiency. 4

  • Endures the Immortal-Asking Stairs while his identity token raises the pressure to nearly the normal seven-hundredth-step level. 7 8
  • Uses his physical foundation and recovery to continue fighting after being cut by ninth-level Qi Refining assassins. 43
  • Defeats two higher-realm assassins, killing one and capturing the other for interrogation. 43
