The seasons of the Ser Wilderness were unusual and unpredictable. After the land had been scorched by the blazing sun for three consecutive years, it finally welcomed a rare rainy season.
At first, only a few muffled rumbles of thunder rolled across the horizon. Then dark clouds swallowed the sky at a visible speed.
When the first raindrop struck the scorched earth, it drew little attention from the creatures of the Wilderness. But soon, countless silver threads pierced the clouds and poured down, tearing the dry air into damp fragments as a thick curtain of rain shrouded the Wilderness sky and earth.
"Damn weather."
Samantha looked at the dense rain curtain, cursed in annoyance, then turned and headed deeper into the cave.
Red Dragons preferred dry, hot, high-temperature weather. This damp, moisture-filled climate made Samantha feel irritable and gloomy.
Garos coiled atop an outcropping of rock, with nothing overhead to shelter him.
He raised his head, his increasingly imposing dragon horns slanting toward the sky. His eyes were half-closed as he let raindrops strike his steel-forged body and shatter apart.
The rain left a clammy wetness on his body.
Garos instinctively found it unpleasant as well.
But he wanted to improve his affinity and resistance to water. Besides, the cave Dragon Lair was far too crude. Water leaked through some cracks, dripping down in muddy droplets and soaking the cave floor into sludge. He might as well get rained on outside.
When would he have a palace of his own, one that didn't leak?
