After a period of busy work, the library's southeast corner was finally restored to order.
Zeliel brought the mysterious Elven-language work to the librarian's desk to register it.
The librarian flipped through the book's contents and recorded its catalog number.
"You can borrow it for fifteen days at most. Remember the deadline."
The librarian stamped the borrowing card. "If you fail to return it on time, you'll never be allowed to borrow books again."
"Understood." Zeliel nodded.
The two left the library. Zeliel was still carefully recalling the scenes he had seen in that vision when Bev hurried after him.
"Hey, hey, where are we meeting up?"
"Meeting up for what?" Zeliel did not quite understand.
"You helped me organize the library, and I'll help you gather herbs. It's only fair." Bev nudged Zeliel with her elbow, speaking as if it were only natural.
Seeing that Bev left no room for refusal, Zeliel did not say much more. He thought for a moment.
"Mm... then let's meet at the Blackstone Town checkpoint in half an hour."
"Okay!"
After returning to Nightflower Inn, Zeliel carefully put away the ancient Elven book and tucked it beneath the bedboards.
The Elves had their own unique social structure. They existed in tribes, ruled by a supreme council of elders, and usually lived in mysterious regions far from human habitation.
Pure-blooded Elves almost never appeared in human kingdoms. Proud and self-regarding, they disdained associating with short-lived races.
Because Elves lived extraordinarily long lives, they possessed many ancient secrets. Many scholars had once tried to find Elven settlements and uncover sealed histories from them, but most returned empty-handed.
