Background / History

Chen Ye retains memories of a previous life in which he died from sudden overwork while studying. He awakens in an unfamiliar body with no knowledge of its original identity or parents. His adoptive parents had found him in the back mountain and raised him alongside Chen Yue; after they died while gathering herbs, the siblings were left alone in Tianhai Village 1.

At the village awakening ceremony, Chen Ye manifests a silver longbow and another mysterious power. He registers as a Spirit Hall apprentice to receive a monthly subsidy, then resolves to take Chen Yue to Notting City so they can attend the elementary academy together 2.

After learning that five men had robbed his family and planned to sell Chen Yue, Chen Ye hunts them down. He uses spatial arrows, phasing, and a spatial rift to kill them, though the experience leaves him physically sick after his first killing 3 4. During the final confrontation, his powers fuse and manifest as the Space-Time Dragon 4.

At Notting Elementary Academy, Chen Ye defeats Tang San and Xiao Wu to become the work-study dormitory's boss. He soon enters Soul Hunting Forest alone to obtain a soul ring, where he discovers that his Space-Time Dragon can absorb additional soul rings to increase the age of his existing rings 5 6 10 11.

After displaying his thousand-year first soul ring, Chen Ye petitions Spirit Hall for admission to its junior academy and insists that Chen Yue accompany him. Spirit Hall accepts his conditions, increases his stipend, and brings the siblings to Spirit City; Tang San and Xiao Wu later join them 20 22 24 25.

Chen Ye spends the next six years almost entirely focused on cultivation. Upon graduation, he advances to Spirit Academy and joins Spirit Hall's knight order, taking command of Squad 317 26 27.

Appearance

Chen Ye is described as a thin but exceptionally handsome boy with deep black eyes. When he uses spatial perception, his eyes turn silver; his Space-Time Dragon power can also cover his hand in dusky-white scales and form a dragon claw 3 4 5 21.

Chen Ye is intensely pragmatic. His decisions are guided first by survival, personal strength, and Chen Yue's security; he avoids risks involving Tang Hao not out of mercy, but because Tang Hao's strength makes direct conflict dangerous 6 8 21.

He is calm under pressure and plans far ahead, but is also ruthless when he believes someone threatens him or his sister. He kills the men who targeted Chen Yue, seriously injures fellow students during conflicts, and forces Xiao Chenyu to apologize to Chen Yue after learning of the harassment 3 7 17.

Despite his hostility toward Tang San, Chen Ye can exercise restraint when a killing would not serve his interests. He chooses not to kill Yu Xiaogang in Soul Hunting Forest, instead observing events and prioritizing his own advancement 13.
