Background

Star Dou Great Forest

Xiao Wu was originally a snow-white Soft Bone Rabbit in the Star Dou Great Forest. As a hundred-year soul beast, she met Lin Yichen shortly after his transmigration into a gray rabbit. The two became mates, and their descendants eventually spread throughout the forest 1.

After ten thousand years, Xiao Wu's mother took her to live at the Lake of Life. Da Ming and Er Ming, the lake's guardians, were close to Xiao Wu and would not permit Lin Yichen—an outsider rabbit—to enter. Xiao Wu and Lin Yichen separated in a reluctant but resolute farewell 1.

Life at Notting Academy

By the time Lin Yichen found her again, Xiao Wu had taken human form and was studying at Notting Junior Soul Master Academy alongside Tang San. Though Lin Yichen initially appeared unfamiliar to her, his distinctive aura and their shared memories as soul beasts led her to recognize him 6 7.

Xiao Wu explains that Tang San is like a brother to her and asks Lin Yichen not to harm him. Lin Yichen agrees, while Xiao Wu continues balancing her attachment to Lin Yichen with her life at the academy 7 8.

She was a work-study student and initially resisted accepting Lin Yichen's money, not wishing to burden him. Lin Yichen nevertheless arranged for her tuition and work situation, then began earning money through Soul Arena battles to support her 8.

Separation and Reunion

Lin Yichen eventually left Notting City for Spirit Hall because Xiao Wu lacked the means to conceal her soul-beast aura; bringing her with him would place her in danger. Xiao Wu chose to remain with Tang San, but continued to long for Lin Yichen during their separation 20 69 70.

During the following summer break, Lin Yichen returned to Holy Soul Village and reunited with her. Xiao Wu was upset that he had made her wait, but became overjoyed when he promised to remain in Notting City for a month and later join her in Suotuo City after her graduation 121.

Xiao Wu notices the mixed auras bound to Lin Yichen's martial-soul origin and realizes that he has entered relationships with other women. She outwardly accepts this as consistent with soul-beast customs, though Lin Yichen recognizes that she is trying not to make him unhappy 121.

Her Mother's Death

Xiao Wu believes Spirit Hall was responsible for the death of her mother, Ah Rou. Lin Yichen promises to investigate the truth and later considers whether Ah Rou's origin essence, sealed within her soul ring, could theoretically be used to revive her 7 123.

Xiao Wu ultimately entrusts the matter to Lin Yichen rather than pursuing vengeance immediately, prioritizing their present happiness despite the unresolved conflict surrounding Ah Rou and Bibi Dong 123.

Personality

Xiao Wu is affectionate and emotionally direct with Lin Yichen. She readily expresses joy at his return, waits for him outside the academy gates, and openly longs for their reunions 14 15 69 121.

Despite this dependence, she is also independent and responsible. She works while studying, initially refuses to rely on Lin Yichen financially, and remains committed to finishing her education before joining him in Suotuo City 8 121.

She can be jealous when Lin Yichen shows attention to other women, particularly Xiao Rou, yet she remains protective of Tang San and asks Lin Yichen not to bully him 7 15. Her acceptance of Lin Yichen's other relationships reflects both her soul-beast upbringing and her desire not to force him to abandon those connected to him 121.
