The black dragon, over twelve meters long, climbed the ridge and looked down at the Kobold Clan standing in a chaotic mass outside the Duru Basin.

Under the dragon's intimidation, they quickly fell silent.

Though they were called kobolds, they looked nothing like dogs. Their heads resembled lizards', and their skin was covered in fine scales ranging in color from deep rusty brown to metallic black. Kobolds had a pair of red eyes, wore tattered clothes, and their thin, short tails hung limply behind them.

One thing was worth noting: these cowardly, useless creatures actually spoke Draconic. Although their accent was atrocious and sounded like barking, Caesar was quite certain it was indeed Draconic.

Could these be the descendants left behind after some legendary senior crossbred with dogs, eventually evolving into an entire race over countless years?

Caesar thought maliciously. Honestly, it seemed quite possible. At the very least, it would explain why kobolds were innately inclined to worship powerful dragons.

Perhaps they were dragonkin themselves.

But if that were true, the bloodline in these creatures was far too diluted. After scanning them with the auxiliary system, Caesar discovered that these kobolds' combat capability only fluctuated between seven and nine. They were probably not much better than Forest Fairies.
