Spring gave way to autumn, and two years passed. Horned-Head Immortal and Spirit Fang Immortal practiced their formations before Yu Chen.

After more than two years of tempering, the illusory formation diagrams in their hands had become half-real and half-phantom. Once unfurled, Highest Purity qi surged forth, yin and yang intertwined, and a formation platform appeared at the center of each. Horned-Head Immortal and Spirit Fang Immortal stepped onto them, thunder flashing from their palms as they demonstrated the mysteries of Taiji and the Two Principles.

As the yin and yang qi transformed, they gave rise to the wonders of the Four Symbols, slipping into the void and drawing forth four sword weapons.

The four swords occupied the east, south, west, and north, manifesting the aspects of Greater Yin, the Sun, Lesser Yin, and Lesser Yang. Four talismanic seals further empowered them, breeding fresh mysteries beyond the Four Symbols.

Vaguely, twenty-one Golden Light Treasure Mirrors flickered in and out of sight within the three great formations. They shifted up and down among the four directions and eight positions, illuminating the void until it resembled a kaleidoscope, muddling truth and falsehood.

Though he merely observed from the side while deducing the mysteries of the Golden Light Formation, Illuminated Daoist found his eyes dazzled. All five senses and six consciousnesses were obscured, leaving him unable to distinguish east from south, or recognize front from back and left from right.

He silently surmised that the twenty-one treasure mirrors forming the Golden Light Formation had already aligned with the nodes through which the spiritual mechanisms of the grotto-heaven blessed land circulated.
