Background

Orphanage experiments

Bai Xiaotian grew up in an orphanage where children were used as experimental subjects. He and the other children endured genetic-virus injections, memory alterations, flesh transplants, biological chips, and other unsafe trials; the accumulated mutations left their bodies and souls unstable. 68 200 201

After entering the Tower and gaining power, Bai Xiaotian escaped with his younger sister, Bai Xiaoya. Discovering that tracking devices had been implanted in their bodies, he acquired a secondhand soul chip, dismantled his own body, and had Bai Xiaoya dispose of the remains through the Spirit Realm. Spirit Mountain Technology believed they had killed him and obtained his head, unaware that he had created false remains with his talent. 200

He later restored his body, attacked the orphanage, and rescued the other surviving children. He hid them across River City, though their actions drew the attention of multiple corporations. 200

Tower climbing and conflict with the Inspection Bureau

Bai Xiaotian was among the first group to enter the Tower. He initially acted like an excited child who believed he had entered a game world, even being caught stealing in Redfang Village. 2 9

His apparent innocence concealed a calculating nature. He misled the group about his talent, then used manifested psionic shields and bullets to defeat Liu Zheng after Liu attempted to kill him. Wu Yu later forced Bai Xiaotian to withdraw with Bi Fang Sigil traps. 31

Bai Xiaotian openly despises Liu Zheng and the Inspection Bureau, holding them responsible for failing to protect children subjected to corporate experimentation. 68 88

Three Pure Ones Group ruins

Bai Xiaotian discovered and explored a Three Pure Ones Group ruin with his fellow survivors. He used its treasures to negotiate with Wu Yu for the gold-quality Crimson Ritual cultivation method, ultimately trading the Mystic Capital Spirit Aperture psionic prosthetic body for it. 183 200 201

He later worked with Wu Yu and the Twilight Witch in the underground laboratory, helping activate equipment and spell formations. 265

Search for Taoist inheritances

Bai Xiaotian continued searching underground ruins for Three Pure Ones Group inheritances. His group found an abandoned cave containing an old life-support pod, a corpse, and a map marked with a Taoist temple. 565

He delivered a Three Pure Ones–inscribed stone to Wu Yu, believing it to be valuable to immortal cultivators, then sought information about Taoist temples in River City. 574 575

His hatred of Spirit Mountain Technology and corporate authority is intense but not reckless. He admits that he avoided directly provoking Spirit Mountain Technology while weak, killing only personnel at the orphanage during his escape. 201

Despite his hostility toward outsiders, Bai Xiaotian is deeply protective of Bai Xiaoya and the other children he rescued. His pursuit of power is driven by the need to keep them alive and eventually retaliate against the corporations that experimented on them. 200 201
