Twilight was born to the Dusk Duke and Duchess, surrounded by dusk light and blessed by the Stars. Her father initially intended to raise her into the strongest Arcane Mage beneath the stars. At six, she told him that she could see an Ancient God; he subsequently intensified her instruction in prayer, etiquette, and ceremonial performance, treating her as a bridge through which he could reach the Stars 230 231 237.

Her public reputation as Dusk City’s “jewel” concealed an isolated childhood in the Supreme Castle. She practiced the Celebration Dance until she shattered successive pairs of crystal slippers, hoping to earn her father’s attention. Her parents failed to fulfill their promise to take her to Swan Lake, while the Mithril Maid remained her only steady companion 231.

Festival, Transformation, and Imprisonment

The final Festival took place on her eighteenth birthday. The Dawn Church and Tower Climbers attacked while she performed the Celebration Dance, believing her death would prevent the coming disaster. Her father prioritized completing the ritual over protecting the city’s inhabitants 231 232 233.

The Dusk Lord’s gaze corrupted Dusk City’s people and buildings. Twilight retained her sanity but became an immortal Witch. Her father imprisoned her in the Arcane Bell Tower to await the deity’s return. In the original sequence encountered by Wu Yu, the Dawn Spear also pinned her to the tower through her heart 229 236 237.

Rescue and Altered History

Twilight first guided Wu Yu as an unseen voice, revealing the Siren mother’s phylactery and later interrupting the Siren father’s attack so he could escape. She called him her master and asked him to take her away from Eternal Dusk 178 179.

On his return, Wu Yu obtained the tower’s two Arcane Keys and used the Solar Core to restore and temper the decayed Dawn Spear before removing it. The rescue drew him into Dusk City’s past, where he comforted her childhood afterimages and intercepted the spear thrown at her during the Festival. She recognized him as the man from her childhood dreams 229 230 231 232.

Dusk City’s history was subsequently rewound to before the corruption. Twilight preserved Wu Yu’s special status during the change and explained that the city would return to its Main World rather than be sacrificed to the Stars and merge with his world.
