"What the hell is this? Why is it so ugly?"
Zhou Min's phone screen showed a web app. Its colors were bright red, blue, and green, clashing harshly, but it was clearly a class schedule—there was a timeline, teachers' names, and classroom numbers.
"Why is it so ugly?" Han Luyi said. "Did your school pay someone to make this?"
"Pay? Where would the school get that kind of money?" Zhou Min handed the phone closer to him. "That new Teacher Wang made it himself. He said it was free, made with some kind of AI."
Han Luyi opened Vision.
"I don't really get it either. Teacher Wang explained it to me twice already." Zhou Min poked a colored block on the screen. "Look at this class. How do I move it to the afternoon?"
Han Luyi took the phone.
His finger swiped across the crude interface. The class blocks could be dragged, though he had to press and hold a little longer to activate them. Even then, there was no shadow change to indicate it, which was confusing. He dragged that class from the fourth morning period to the first afternoon period. The block dropped into the time slot, its color flashing briefly to show it had worked.
"Mom, press here and hold for a second, then drag it to the slot where you want it. Just let go when you're done."
Zhou Min took the phone and tried it herself.
"Oh." She swiped twice more and moved another class. "All right, I'll remember it this time."
Han Luyi felt something strange. In an unexpected place, his mother had indirectly used his own product. It was as though his actions had stirred up a few ripples.
That night, Han Luyi lay down on his small bed. It was
