"Holy shit! A level-two zombie?!"
Cries of shock rang out. They were all scared shitless!
Even level-one zombies were already so hard to deal with, let alone a level-two one!
No wonder Lu Xingyuan had bolted so fast!
Was this the keen instinct of a pro?
"Wait for me!"
They all turned around, only to discover that Lu Xingyuan had already run far ahead without stopping for even a moment.
What was more, Lu Xingyuan had actually opened fire on the strength-type zombie.
The bullets struck its massive, mountainlike body, but failed to inflict the deadly, effective damage they had dealt to ordinary zombies.
Good.
Having gauged its defenses, Lu Xingyuan raised the muzzle slightly, aimed at its head, and fired a burst.
The strength-type zombie sensed the danger and raised a hand in front of its head, blocking every bullet.
Good.
So it did have a weakness.
Lu Xingyuan nodded in satisfaction, then stopped looking back and focused on running. He had successfully enraged the strength-type zombie!
"ROAR!"
It unleashed an earth-shaking roar, instantly filling the long, narrow passage with a gust of foul, bloody air. Every movement of its heavy body made a thunderous noise, like a tank grinding across the ground.
Movement speed was the strength-type zombie's weakness, but even so, ordinary people like them couldn't compete. In the blink of an eye, it caught a woman!
"No... don't kill me!"
She screamed in terror, but that did nothing to stop her frail body from being smashed apart with a single slap.
Strength-type zombies earned their name from their terrifying, absurd strength!
It shoved the woman's mangled remains into its mouth and chewed ravenously, but never stopped moving. It soon locked onto its next target and quickened its pursuit!
The screams and fleeing footsteps gradually descended from the rooftop. The twelfth floor, the eleventh, the tenth... Faced with mortal danger, everyone unleashed unimaginable potential, refusing to give up their struggle.
Meanwhile, the previously chaotic rooftop had fallen quiet instead. It seemed entirely free of danger, with only the level-two treasure chest left gleaming silver in the daylight.
Just then, a ripple suddenly spread through space, and an honest-looking man silently appeared.
He cautiously surveyed his surroundings. After making sure there was no danger, he slowly approached the level-two treasure chest. He was already doing his best to suppress his surging emotions, but excitement still shone uncontrollably in his eyes.
"It's only natural. It's a level-two treasure chest, after all. Even I'm pretty excited."
At that very moment, a voice came from behind him with spectacularly bad timing. The man froze on the spot, then whipped around and saw a familiar face.
The other man held a submachine gun with its muzzle pointed straight at him, ready to fire at any moment.
"Is that your talent's ability?"
"Or is it some kind of item with supernatural powers?"
The man's expression stiffened as he ventured,
"Whatever's in the chest... how about we split it fifty-fifty? Don't push me too far. Taking each other down won't do either of us any good!"
"Since when did I become a fucking beggar on my knees?"
Lu Xingyuan felt insulted.
"If you shoot..."
The man began warning him heatedly, then realized halfway through that he was speaking too loudly and hastily lowered his voice.
"The gunshots will definitely draw that level-two zombie back here. When that happens, neither of us will get out of this in one piece. Do you understand?"
"See this?"
Lu Xingyuan raised his fist.
The man froze. Before he could react, Lu Xingyuan lunged forward and drove his fist hard into his face.
Enhanced by the Gene Potion, Lu Xingyuan possessed extraordinary strength. That single punch sent stars dancing before the man's eyes.
"Bro... I was wrong..."
The man immediately became compliant.
Seriously, what was wrong with this guy?
Did he have to get beaten before he'd behave?
"Then hurry up and spill it!"
Lu Xingyuan landed another two punches on him, bam, bam.
"My talent! That's right, it's my talent!"
The man covered his head with both hands, terrified of being hit again.
His talent was called "Shadow Shift," and it allowed him to travel short distances from one place to another.
He had just used it to come up from the twelfth floor.
Lu Xingyuan's expression darkened.
"Then can you shift into someone else's train?"
The man hunched his shoulders and stole a glance at Lu Xingyuan.
Lu Xingyuan punched him again.
"Talk!"
"Y-yes, I can."
"Fuck! That's so sneaky!"
Poor little Lu Xingyuan nearly had the life scared out of him.
Luckily, he had taken precautions and kept the man under his watch. If he had let him roam freely, wouldn't he have ended up starring in that classic "sleeping husband" scenario himself?
Once inside the train, the man could freely open and close its doors using the switches on the control console.
"Bro, you're overthinking it! How would I dare even consider that? If you found out, wouldn't you just gun me down on the spot?"
The man hurriedly insisted that he was an honest fellow who would never do anything so reprehensible.
"Besides, everyone has to wait until eleven to depart. It's not like I could leave early, right?"
Lu Xingyuan thought it over. That did seem to be the case.
The man breathed a sigh of relief.
"Then... can you let me leave? I don't want the level-two treasure chest anymore."
He added, "Bro, you'd better hurry up. If that level-two zombie suddenly comes back, things will get ugly."
Lu Xingyuan nodded. "Good point."
Before the delight could fully spread across the man's face, a bullet buried itself in his chest, freezing his expression.
"You..."
"Take a deep breath. The dizziness is normal."
Only after the man had completely stopped breathing did Lu Xingyuan begin searching his body.
What's this?
A metal card?
[Immediate Departure] [Category: extraordinary creation · single-use consumable] [Level: 1] [Description: Once activated, your train can ignore the station's mandatory stopover rules and depart immediately.]
"..."
With his Shadow Shift talent and this item card, the man could have emptied Lu Xingyuan's train completely and gotten away unscathed!
This honest fellow wasn't honest at all!
So killing him wasn't a waste.
After confirming that the man had no other valuables on him, Lu Xingyuan hurriedly picked up the level-two treasure chest and sprinted toward another passage!
A million-value extraction!
He smelled it. He could already smell that foul, bloody gust!
The level-two zombie had returned!
A roar filled with boundless fury came from behind him. Then he felt the floor shaking violently, as though it were about to collapse!
Lu Xingyuan's asshole clenched. He wished he could hit a nitro boost right then and there.
Move, you damn legs!
Before you continue
