Now, your intelligence had slightly surpassed mine, Luthor's. We'll see about that!
On the surface, Luthor's facial muscles twitched before he regained his rational expression.
He adjusted his tie and walked over to Superman and Leon.
"I didn't expect anyone besides Superman to show up."
Leon nodded and introduced himself to Sam and Luthor.
"I am Kal-El's cousin, Leon-El. I have lived secretly on Earth for many years.
Now, inspired by my cousin, I am willing to negotiate with Zod for the sake of my beautiful planet."
What a load of crap. What kind of Superman was he supposed to be?!
The scenes of Leon slaughtering two laboratories in succession remained vivid in their minds, as did the helplessness of watching Kara be taken away.
Realizing that an unrestrained beast was standing beside them, even Luthor's heart skipped a beat.
The same went for the military personnel, including General Sam.
Superman was easy to deal with. He did not kill people.
But with an unfamiliar being just like him appearing at his side, many of their original plans had become difficult to carry out.
"What is this?"
At that moment, Leon noticed a gleaming object in a soldier's hand.
Moving at a speed too fast to follow, he snatched it away and dangled it from his hand.
When he saw that it was a silver bracelet, he nearly laughed.
"What? Are we criminals? Does your Beacon's illegal immigration law extend to aliens too?"
General Sam fell silent.
"Then you should call ICE for this."
Leon did not care whether this world even had such an organization. He twisted the bracelet like a towel.
The metal was effortlessly crushed into a spike in his grip.
Now General Sam was drenched in sweat. He had seen Amanda's death scene.
He knew what this meant, but he could not say it.
In short, endure...
Soon, the spacecraft kicked up clouds of sand as it descended before the military formation.
The soldiers tightened their grips on their guns, the gunners fixed their eyes on the targets through their sights, and the atmosphere on the field abruptly changed.
Clark and Leon stood side by side at the very front.
The landing gear extended, and the armored lieutenant Faora-Ul emerged with five Kryptonians.
She glanced at Clark, then fixed her gaze on Leon.
"Who are you?"
"Kal's cousin. I followed him to this planet."
Faora raised an eyebrow slightly. She could not understand where this man had suddenly come from.
But that was something only General Zod could decide.
"Forget it. No matter who you are—"
Just as she was about to lead the two of them back onto the spacecraft, the humans struck.
Several grenades loaded with Kryptonite dust were fired toward the center.
At the same time, several radioactive Kryptonite beacons shed their lead casings, blanketing the spacecraft's vicinity.
Clark was the first to be affected. He instantly lost his strength and dropped to his knees.
Faora and the others were shielded by their armor, but they were still affected and fell to their knees as well.
Fall! Fall!
By then, Luthor had already donned his first-generation anti-Superman armor in green and purple.
"No matter what plans you have, the final victor will be humanity! No! I should say—"
"It will be me, Lex Luthor!"
This was the eruption born from countless acts of restraint. He had finally found an opportunity to wipe out these arrogant aliens in one fell swoop.
Especially Leon, who had stolen his things.
Smoke, oh smoke, hurry up and clear. I can't wait to see their miserable faces!
As if it had heard his prayer, the hot wind intensified, and the green smoke gradually thinned.
Then Luthor saw that patch of white still standing among the fallen Kryptonians.
Leon met his gaze and pointed at himself.
"Uh, am I supposed to fall too?"
(I still have one more chapter coming later. I've been a little busy during the day lately.)
The Bald Man's Death! ### Leon remaining on his feet plunged the scene into silence.
Luthor, General Sam, and the soldiers who had been enthusiastically raising their guns and turning their cannons all felt their blood gradually run cold.
They were as stunned as Metal Man. Their only trump card, Kryptonite, had failed to affect Leon.
Luthor swallowed.
"Why weren't you affected?"
"Think, Luthor, think. Could it be that your cerebral cortex is as smooth as the surface of your head?"
Leon tapped his temple with a fingertip, his face full of disdain.
The insult was devastating. Luthor's face flushed red again.
He became certain once more that Superman was one of a kind. Superman would never say something like that.
But then he realized his mistake. Tracking Superman's movements and having Kara in his grasp had made him assume there were no other Kryptonians on Earth.
That had narrowed his perspective and made him assume Leon, who had involved himself in this matter, was also a Kryptonian.
Luthor's mouth twitched as sweat ran down his chin.
And that meant—
He had lost twice to someone like Superman. Even Superman had only ever surpassed him in morality and strength, never in intelligence.
Twice. Twice! This was the ultimate humiliation!
As the great bald head crumbled, the situation on the battlefield also began to change.
The Kryptonians pulled out grenades and pressed them against their chests, detonating them and becoming enveloped by rings of miniature suns.
The shockwave slightly alleviated their symptoms.
Leon then approached one of them and grabbed his wrist just as he pulled out a grenade.
"You are—"
Leon's hand chopped down, severing his arm at the elbow.
Ignoring the other man rolling on the ground, he tossed the grenade along with the severed arm to Clark while savoring the feel of it.
Kryptonians weakened by Kryptonite were even softer than he had been as a child.
Of course, Clark was definitely not that weak. He was different.
Bang!
A Kryptonite bullet grazed Leon's cheek. With that first shot, the humans finally launched their attack.
The frozen battlefield sprang back to life.
Some Kryptonians slammed into the military formation at extreme speed and began tearing through it.
The others, led by Faora, attempted to take Clark away.
But just as they touched his suit, the grenade-energized Superman threw a punch and knocked one of them back.
Leon, who had arrived at that moment, grabbed Clark's red cape.
"Clark, stand shoulder to shoulder with the sun!"
"Huh?!"
His toe touched the ground, and Intelligent Atom rapidly exerted force, spinning Clark into a red-and-blue top.
He sent the Kryptonians flying and whipped up a tornado across the sandy ground.
The moment he let go, Clark became a black dot before finally merging into the sunlight.
Leon ignored the other Kryptonians and fixed his eyes on that shining bald head.
He decided to take back what he had said before.
This was Lex Luthor. He always claimed it was for humanity, yet every disaster he caused by targeting Superman endangered humanity, and Superman had to clean up after him in the end.
He opened a communication channel.
"Batman, I'm planning to kill Luthor."
"First, I don't approve, but I was never able to stop you anyway.
"Second, they didn't do this cleanly. They left no room for recordings or anything like that.
"Third, if there's anything I can handle, let me know. I would much prefer legal means, but this time Luthor colluded with the government.
"Finally, I suggest you think carefully before attacking the military. That general is Lois's father."
This version of the old man was rather likable.
He had said Leon could go ahead.
Leon cut the communication and clasped his hands together, stretching and loosening up.
The next second, he shot forward.
The shockwave from his charge blasted the nearby soldiers who were still fighting into the air, and the sandstorm that followed swallowed them whole.
"Your strength doesn't even reach half of Superman's!"
Luthor was still battling Kryptonians in his armor. Hearing the sonic boom, he instinctively turned around.
A fist was already pressed against his chest.
Boom!
He flew backward, smashing through several soldiers in succession and sending multiple armored vehicles flying.
After carving a trench through the sand, his momentum still did not stop. The armor tumbled end over end, looking as though it would fly farther and farther away.
Alarms buzzed urgently in his ears.
Having recovered from his shock, Luthor tried to activate the thrusters and regain his balance.
However, that punch had exceeded the armor's projected load limit and directly crippled most of its systems.
"No way. This was clearly calculated based on Superman's output."
"Maybe because he had always been holding back?"
The sudden voice made Luthor shudder.
At some point, the armor had stopped, and in half of the cameras that still functioned, a white figure stood atop it.
It was Leon.
He crouched down and tore off the first dented armor plate.
Luthor controlled the armor and swung a punch, but the fist that was supposed to send Superman flying was caught effortlessly by the other man.
